All issues resolved. The 40MHz 68030 accelerator is installed and working in the A2000.

Here's a victory video of Black Lotus' 2019 OCS/ECS Amiga scenedemo 'Eon'. I am unsure if anyone will get the irony of this video, but the spark of that irony is what motivated this CPU upgrade from the Commodore 68020 board I was running before.

Happily, was able to find eight 30-pin 70ns FPM 1MB SIMMs, so I can populate the 16-bit Zorro II RAM+SCSI card to 8MB in this Amiga 2000 upgrade.

Cracked open the Amiga 2000 and am moving from a 14MHz 68020 to a 40MHz 68030, and increasing FAST RAM in both 16-bit Zorro II space and 32-bit extended space.

The "new" accelerator is a GVP G-Force 030 (Impact A2000-030 Combo Series II) with 8MB 32-bit FAST RAM and 68882 FPU.

This board has a jumper allowing it to be fully disabled, which I will bring out to a toggle switch (for cycle-exact 68000 scenedemos).

Amiga people: Do any of the new accelerators that work with the Amiga 2000 allow fallback to the original 68000 by way of a PHYSICAL SWITCH or jumper?

I want an accelerator that can be disabled (without using soft-menus to control the state) so that the Amiga is able to fall back to its 100% exact original 68000 state, which some demos require to run properly, due to cycle-precise coding.

I have an A2620 68020 accelerator in my NTSC A2000, but it does not have a physical switch (just a soft menu) and the state gets lost when I juggle that soft menu and the need to also use Degrader to reboot into PAL mode.

Apparently the A2620 can be modified to add a switch, but it's beyond my abilities.

Ruhiger Morgen im Büro heute. Treib' mich mal wieder n bisschen auf Archive.org rum und hab mir dieses alte "Amiga Spiele" Heft von Markt & Technik runtergeladen. Die alte Diskette für den A500 funktioniert noch super und per AmigaDOS Skript konnte ich mir zwei Spieldisketten von Maniac Mansion erzeugen. Wieder ein schönes Teil für die Sammlung! 😉

Having an awesome time putting my new Parceiro II+ that just arrived in the mail through its paces on my Amiga 1000. I had the original Parceiro and it was a game changer, but the Parceiro II+ is just a polished vehicle for perfectly experiencing the Amiga as it was in its heyday.

Kickstart in ROM (no floppy needed!), HD / volumes on removable SD card, 8MB FAST RAM expansion, real-time battery-backed clock.

And I've been focused on the Kickstart 1.3 partition so far; I've hardly had a chance to play with the KS 2.04/WB 2.1 and AmigaOS 3.1 modes / partitions.

Such amazing work, David Dunklee! What a way to make the Amiga shine.

Forty years ago today, the Commodore Amiga 1000 was released to the world. With its unprecedented graphics & sound capabilities, powerful 16-bit CPU and custom chipset, and UNIX-like multitasking OS, the Amiga was a truly revolutionary system for its time. And, many are still in use to this day, with the platform seeing new software and hardware development from month to month.

I presently have three, myself. :-)

I am checking out a few Amiga disk images and I gotta admit: This one had me confused for a bit.

As shown in the attached screenshot of DirectoryOpus, I had found a savegame with a file date "older" than the game it originated from. At first, I thought this to be very unusual. Then I remembered: Back in the day, Amigas did not usually have a real-time clock with a battery backup, so every time you booted up the system, the clock would be reset to a fixed date and time!

I'm feeling kinda stupid right now.

@climagic I credit #AmigaDOS with easing my way into #Unix (and then #Linux) #shell and forever tainting my view of the more-limited #MSDOS.

All of a sudden I am looking for a 68030 accelerator for the Amiga 2000. There are a few modern ones in different states of readiness, it seems.

Can anyone point me to something solid? (Older would be fine - but I see none on offer in the regular places.)

Update: Has anyone tried the new Dicke Olga board? It has a disable switch which I require.
