A strain of misogyny common in many (most?) modern #CDramas - the FL might initially be depicted as independent and skilled, but as soon as the ML gets serious about her, she's suddenly talentless and needs his help in everything. 1 reason why I stuck with the overlong 30-ep #AmidstASnowstormOfLove is that it NEVER did that. The FL & ML were truly peers. #EveryoneLovesMe otoh is doing EXACTLY this. 8 eps of the FL being so good everyone wants her. Now, she's a hack who needs him to rescue her

I have a"No more than 30 eps" rule for #CDramas #AmidstASnowstormOfLove is a great example of why. I'm giving it 7.5/10 for the independent and talented FL who carved her own career and made her own choices. BUT it should have been no more than 25 eps, not 30. The ML spoke as if each word took a year off his life AND he took a year to say every.single.word -. 3-4 minutes of screentime for maybe 10 words of dialog between the OTP was the norm. 5 eps shorter, it would've been a 9/10 #CDrama

Watching a a snooker tournament scene setin China and featuring two Chines players in #CDrama #AmidstASnowstormofLove and hearing the referee announce the score in English reminded me of the time I took my Dad to watch a cricket Test Match between NZ and Pakistan. It was fun being able to follow the onfield chatter in Urdu, but I nearly laughed out loud when a NZ player skied the ball and 11 Pakistanis shouted in unison "Catch it!" 😀

Just finished "Amidst a Snowstorm of Love" 🌸 It was a really sweet, understated love story but also about how to move on if life doesn't quite work out the way we had planned it. The sporting element became a catalyst for their love story and not just added on to make the target audience bigger. This drama will stay with me for a while.

Am watching episode 2 of "Amidst a Snowstorm of Love" 🌸 Already at this point the chemistry is palpable even though it is understated. Wu Lei and Zhao Jinmai are very sweet together. Subtle acting and natural nuance to their interactions. Very promising!
