FPGA based Amiga clone: AmiCUBE Mini is booting AmigaOS
Ranko Rodic's "next-generation FPGA-based Amiga clone" (his own description) is based on a Xilinx Artix-7 FPGA. In the latest status video, the developer demonstrates the completed porting of the Minimig core to the modern FPGA, showing, among other things, the complete boot process and the now functioning audio output. -
Llega la Pistorm «híbrida» con Raspberry y 68k real.
El desarrollador Ranko Rodic ha presentado la PiStorm68K, una edición especial de la conocida tarjeta turbo PiStorm que introduce un concepto innovador: la posibilidad de utilizar tanto una Raspberry Pi como emulador de CPU 68000 así como un procesador Motorola 68000 físico. Gracias a un interruptor integrado en la propia placa, el usuario puede alternar de forma sencilla entre ambos modos, combinando así la flexibilidad de la emulación con la fidelidad del hardware original.
La placa destaca por su cuidada fabricación, basada en un PCB de seis capas con acabado ENIG (Electroless Nickel Immersion Gold), que garantiza mayor conductividad y resistencia a la corrosión. También incorpora un sistema de gestión de energía optimizado, con fusible autorrearmable y un diseño de desacoplo mejorado para asegurar un funcionamiento estable incluso bajo cargas elevadas. A ello se suman indicadores LED que muestran el estado de las líneas de alimentación (+5V, +3.3V y +1.8V), lo que facilita tanto la supervisión como el diagnóstico en caso de problemas.
Otro aspecto reseñable es su compatibilidad con modelos de Raspberry Pi de mayor tamaño, ya que los conectores han sido dispuestos de manera que no interfieran durante la instalación. Todo ello sin descuidar la estética, inspirada en el diseño icónico de AmiCube, que aporta un toque distintivo y reconocible.
El proyecto mantiene además un espíritu abierto, con el compromiso de liberar próximamente los archivos Gerber para que la comunidad pueda construir y personalizar sus propias versiones de la tarjeta.
Las primeras diez unidades ya se encuentran disponibles en la tienda de su creador, con un precio aproximado de 81 euros (95 dólares). Según ha señalado Rodic, la PiStorm68K ha sido probada con el Minimig, aunque todavía no se ha verificado su compatibilidad con ordenadores Amiga clásicos como el A500 o el A2000.
