  1. American Express ordered to fix security gaps after a customer complained about improper employee access.

It seems that a customer reported a privacy concern and fought AmEx for 4 years to get them to implement stronger access controls or monitoring of employee access to data.

Now, the AU govt has ordered AmEx to rectify security flaws in five of its data systems to guard against “insider threats” and to restrict employee access to specific customer information to protect vulnerable and high-profile customers.

  2. I can’t say I don’t like the idea of a “n/a” balance, as long as it stays that way #Amex

    Sadly it did not

  3. As a #Delta #AmEx card holder, I’m not too happy about the decongesting / downgrading of service when I fly. Another instance of corporate greed? You decide.

  4. Dear #AmEx #AmericanExpress

In the year of our Lord 2026, it has become the norm for people’s e-mail settings to NOT load remote images (aka tracking images) by default. Stop equating my lack of loading remote images as an unsuccessful attempt to notify me of a new statement and sending snail mail to me saying as much.

  5. Oh AMEX.

I got an email this week from AMEX. It looked like a phishing email. Even the sender's domain wasn't just the americanexpress.com domain, it was emailamericanexress.com.

The email was legit, they wanted me to call the number on the email. I looked up a different number, it was about money wired to me that wasn't accepted. Perhaps this could have been a message on the portal?

Also, they offered to record my voice as a password. I mentioned that this was awful security.

#traurig #SOR

  9. It’s kinda insane how easy it is for me to recoup the cost of the Amex Platinum card

With the Lululemon, Clear, PreCheck, and Uber Credits alone that covers it

Plus lounge access, Resy credits, hotel status

And because I travel a lot for work they actually will cover a significant portion of the annual fee

I know it’s not everyone’s favorite card, but it’s gotten really good this past year

  10. CW: financial companies preying on the elderly

Starting in Dec. 2018, when my uncle was 71 years old and living on social security + a small pension, he became obsessed with buying antique posters, crystal decanters and other decorative items, and started charging thousands of dollars of purchases every month to his #AmericanExpress card.
He'd had this card for over a decade prior, and had previously paid off the entire balance monthly. (1/9)

  12. WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Back in September I damaged my new washing machine.

Had it repaired today (the first opportunity I had).

$319 call out fee, however the dude was able to fix the damage without any further charges.

Made a claim with American Express for the repair cost.

    Submitted claim at 12.00.

Claim approved and paid at 12.10.

    TEN FUCKING MINUTES.
