Wanted to make a ground beef stroganoff recipe that I saw on #AmericasTestKitchen. So, I rushed out of the house this morning to buy some #EggNoodles needed that I ran out of but totally forgot to buy #Mushrooms too. 🤦♂️
So gotta head out again to buy some of those. 🤷♂️

#Baking #cookies is one way I like to make myself feel a little more Christmas-y, even if they’re not “proper” Christmas cookies.
This afternoon I baked a box of Krusteaz shortbread cookie mix and added apricot jam to make them thumbprint cookies, then opened the #AmericasTestKitchen cookbook and whipped up some thin-and-crunchy oatmeal cookies (which my partner was a fan of) and then some big-and-chewy oatmeal cookies with chocolate chunks, pecans, and cherries (which flattened instead of staying thick and soft, but my partner likes them better this way anyway, so that’s okay).
Holidays itch: Scratched. Also, delicious cookies I don’t have to give away: Lots.

My faith in America's Test Kitchen has been shook.
They used cottage cheese in a lasagna recipe.
I would be posthumously disowned by my late Italian Grandmother if I even contemplated using cottage cheese instead of ricotta in a lasagna.

No plans on a Saturday? Make croissants!
Several things didn't go according to plan but recipes from #AmericasTestKitchen often have a wide margin of error. In addition to the traditional crescent-shaped croissant (pictured), we made a number of chocolate croissants, which use the same dough and identical instructions until the cutting and shaping of the dough.
We enjoyed this beloved French pastry after most of the day following the recipe.

A friend showed me #AmericasTestKitchen reviews of the #ninjacreami and #hexclad pans, where they heavily criticised both as being essentially useless.
From my personal experience with the former and a friend's opinion of the second, I am sure they either didn't read (or completely ignored) the instructions for both.
I have generally trusted their reviews in the past, but maybe I need to revise that habit?
