Mandisa Thomas has done great work with Black Nonbelievers, but she basically is the organization, so it was subject to any temperamental whims & fits of temper. A small group tried a few years ago to apply pressure to (white) orgs working with her on boards or with BN. That didn't work out well for anyone, & apparently emboldened her to include personal & sexual reasons for excluding folks from BN. As I understand it, Mandisa has accepted the need for a proper board, etc. for accountability, & other people to go to about issues. So we'll see. Oft noted, too, is that only having one group to serve the needs of Black Atheists was always going to be insufficient.
