Utah Hockey Club, 1280 AM on Northern Utah WebSDR Yellow. #KZNS Salt Lake City monitored from 80 miles north in Corrine, UT.

The KZNS 1280 web call is blacked out (because reasons? money? there's a way to pay for listening to hockey on the radio?)

Tied with the Maple Leafs with 5 minutes left in the 3d period.

KZNS is 50 kilowatts during the day, but only 670 watts at night. I hear another station underneath the hockey broadcast but the announcers win the contest.

I should be able to pick up AM 1100 in SE Michigan, and my usual local SDR "misdr" just north of here has a pretty fair signal. I can catch the signal at home on my Youloop but it sounds better via remotes.

Seattle Mariners spring training #baseball on #KIRO AM 710. Home opener 22 days away against the A's. Listening on a KiwiSDR on Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor WA.

Spring training is an opportunity to make sure your baseball DX stations are dialed in for remote KiwiSDR listening during the season.

710 AM is weak on my home SDR, but I get #WOR 710 New York on KiwiSDR "misdr2" nearby. The adjacent channel #WLW 700 Cincinnati is considerably stronger here in SE Michigan.

It's pretty good this year, with 3 of 4 teams still in play with home team broadcasts I can pick up locally.

The detail that I missed when it happened was the deal that led to the end of all-news WCBS-AM 880; that station is now ESPN New York as WHSQ 880. I'm relying on Wikipedia and this NYTimes story to figure out the scorecard and the players.

Of course the signal would fade right at the half-hour mark, but I did get a station ID at the end of the clip. but… it wasn’t until after hearing the station ID mentioned with the frequency at 1011UTC, that I realized I was actually listening to a broadcast on 1590AM ( #WCGO / W240EH 1590AM / 95.9FM out of Evanston, IL). Heard a couple of shows being showcased: “Food & Wine with Chef Jamie Gwen,” and “The Rabbi and the Reverend with Rabbi Daniel Cohen and Reverend Greg Doll.” At first, the signal sounded better on 1600kHz, but I eventually got it tuned in on 1590kHz. #AMDX #AMlistening

I hear two stations fading in & out on 710AM depending on how I position the #TecsunS2000 “internal” rotatable AM antenna. With ends oriented NW to SE - I intermittently pick up C2C AM on WOR out of NYC, NY w/ a strong sig ~ Dist: 755mi. I did some goal-oriented AM listening overnight as part of DX Central’s MW Frequency Challenge (Week 6: 690-720kHz) ~ (DX Challenges .com ). Here are the stations I heard:

1029UTC: WGN Chicago, IL - 226mi.
1058UTC: WQNO New Orleans, LA - 690mi.
1224UTC: WZAP Bristol, VA - 355mi.

There is some noise under the signal but it's very copyable.

Last night I was listening to WCBS 880AM out of NYC while driving from Salem, IL (Dist approx 815mi / 1311km) to Olney, IL - w/ intermittently a very strong signal - all news & talk. On Wed night I was listening to a sports program on WWL 870AM out of New Orleans along that same stretch of road. (Dist from Olney, IL to NOLA is approx 616mi / 992km) - the host on WWL’s show was discussing his top six picks for all-time greatest quarterbacks. Using stock radio in the truck. #AMDX #BroadcastRadio

Baseball radio via KiwiSDR, listening to Dodgers - Tigers via a 5 kw sports AM station in Honolulu, HI.

The SDR is run by NH6XO; it reports having a "220' unterminated N-S Beverage - horizon blocked - blocked to all points west"

AM radio on Hawaii sounds different - you don't get the common co-channel interference that you would in the lower 48.

Tigers 0 - 0 Dodgers, bottom 1.
