THAT UNIVERSAL TRUTH
Surprised by the desire
For once not to rush, the
Ambitious young poet,
Always on the search for
Another universal truth,
Slows his pace to match
His sister’s sedate carriage.
They #amble now, through
Trees and bushes, until they
Reach the edge of this
Stilling wood, and the air
Motionless, and in front
Of them that carpet of yellow,
The hovering single cloud, the
Hoarse rushing of the sea
In the distance, and peace
At last.

unlike me, never scrambling

I #amble through the park as the sun illuminates an autumnal scene. Rudbeckias and asters still buzz with bees. The air is cool. It smells fresh, spicy. For a moment, I forget the pain in my foot, the strains, and the distance between us.

My train trip to Northumberland (via London for a work reunion) brought me Sandwich, Little, Arctic, Roseate Common and Black Tern (unfortunately not Bridled) along with Puffin. Had a great time.

As people elsewhere in the UK discover Northumberland as a place to holiday and live, the beautiful northern coastline spreads south, absorbing the old pit villages as it goes. It's gentrified the old fishing port of Amble, which 15 years ago was a tough place, with no investment and a disaffected population. It's now thriving - without having been destroyed. We had our last walk of the year around the harbour, which still thrives as a fishing port. #Amble #Northumberland

The boss loved to #amble through the office, watching everyone #scurry at his orders. He gave everyone mocking nicknames and impossible deadlines. Going on strike seemed insufficient, so during his vacation we disassembled the building and moved it to Nebraska.

The Chief Constable decided to #amble through Cloudrise with his coffee. He stopped for a bit to watch a young woman hanging up her laundry, wistfully watching as she lifted her arms over her head.
"She's married, you know," said a sharp voice behind him.
He stiffened and, without turning, said, "Good morning, Miss Bellox."
"She is pretty isn't she," she said.
"Mmm," the Chief agreed.
They watched discreetly until the young woman finished and then, nodding, went their separate ways. -
Spent a good deal of yesterday wandering around Amble. It was lovely. So many gorgeous little places in the UK that we forget are worth visiting.
