I play and run a lot of Amber diceless (tabletop rpg). Once I ran the classic "it's a D&D-esque world and your adult kids were in an adventuring party and got in over their heads, and now you and the other middle aged non-adventurers have to go to the rescue" plot, and I ran it with the #ADRPG because that's my bread and butter.

When I'd gotten all the characters from people who responded before the con, I looked them over and found the group was light on Warfare, the Amber stat for strategy/fighting (ish).

I made a couple pregens, and the one that was picked sticks in my mind, because the player was great and I also like the concept: I was like "what kind of non-adventurer has a lot of combat and strategy experience?" And the answer was an orc dockworker union organizer.

He'd been standing up to the Man and keeping his own people on point for years, and then his dang son went off and became a namby-pamby cleric and was palling around with non-orcs and were they treating the kid right...

It's probably not something I would have thought of without the Amber ruleset to frame the problem space. Just thinking about how rules are neat and inspire creativity.

I love the world of Amber. Haven't played the game in over a decade. Didn't know anyone even remembered it anymore. .. which is to say, yes, I have played #AmberDiceless quite a bit!

#AmberDiceless You play a god. You can go anywhere, do anything in the whole multiverse. Almost. Because the rest of your F*ing family are gods too, and they just won't stop interfering. *Character generation* sets you at each other's throats, and you'll never look back. (Seriously - the absolute value of your attributes don't matter. All that matters is your rank amongst the rest of the family. The attribute auction process set storylines in motion that lasted us YEARS.)

@vitruvianmeeple You're one of the few people I've run across that even know about #AmberDiceless. I always enjoyed that system, even if it had some issues. Did you ever see the Lords of Gossamer & Shadow campaign on Kickstarter? It was a spiritual sequel to the system.

4. First TTRPG you bought from its creator: This question confuses me because of how many ttrpgs are published. Any of the games I've purchased could be from its creator if they get paid. The one that stands out to me most may be Erick Wujcik for #TMNTandOtherStrangeness or #AmberDiceless RPG.

If we are talking about indie games then I might say #SwashbucklersOfThe7Skies or #DogsInTheVineyard as I was late to the Forge party.

@laidbackdm As always, this is a very tough thing to answer. If I absolutely had to choose only one, I guess I'd pick #AmberDiceless as it.
It shook my ideas of what an RPG could be and how to approach design, stories, and GM/player balance.
The advice by Wujcik was helpful in places and horrifying in others, but it opened up new ways of looking at games for me; then I discovered the Amber Diceless community and soaked in their energy and brilliance, changing how I run and play forever.
