Open letter to EFF,

Hi @eff,

We are concerned that #AmazonSidewalk might be designed to create a #closedCorporateInternet.

If we are going to go down the route of a #meshNet then the #technology must be open. This means #openHardware (in so far as #circuitry that is #printable).

What #Amazon is creating is a disgrace to an open and supposedly free society.

We are considering whether a recall of their #AmazonRing, #EchoSpeakers and other products should be enacted.

Ethics are learned over time. The job of a #fediInstance host is to exercise best judgement with the info they have.

The ability to speak info, today manifestly access to #theInternet is therefore paramount — a fundamental #humanRight, and why we are dogged in our efforts to bring justice to those persecuting JulianAssange.

One of the things I think everyone seems to be missing about #AmazonSidewalk is 10% of police departments already have warrantless access to the Ring network and are already using it for monitoring. Never mind Alexa streaming a constant feed of audio in your house to Amazon employees and whatever Amazon forks over to whoever asks.

#Sidewalk guarantees the cops 24/7 access to your neighborhood on your dime like a freaking ant farm for no other reason than they can. Plus God knows who else. #ACAB
