  3. @dangillmor I have gone one stage further by never having subscribed to Prime in the first place!

I haven't used Amazon for years on account of how they treat their employees and "sub-contractors".

If stuff is cheap is cheap then it means that people in the supply chain are earning (much) less than you are

  5. Nice to know that #AmazonPrimeDay is here, but considering I'm currently broke, and who's exactly benefiting from it, just remember the words of a certain reviewer whose name escapes me: you'll always get the maximum savings if you buy nothing

This week is, of course, the time of year for Amazon Prime Day(s). Over the years, Amazon’s red-letter days have been a good indicator of the direction they want to take the business in over the coming year(s).

  8. Tomorrow is Amazon's Prime Day.

I assume a bunch of you are going to buy a lot of stuff:

    - planned expenses that are on your wish list for a while, and
    - unplanned expenses that you'll buy only because they will be discounted and that you won't ever use again after the first few days

What if you instead make some big donations to starving/freezing Palestinians? Given that it's now October and a new month and you just received more money from your employer.

Instead of succumbing to wildly derailed consumerism?

I know, you already donate … but you can surely spare more than a total of $25 from a monthly salary, can you not? If you're honest with yourself.

You will, after all, in all likelihook, tomorrow.

Enjoy your consumerism tomorrow while Jeff Bezos has outrageously expensive weddings in Venice and directly funds fascism, and while genocide victims don't know how to have something to eat this week. Or really any day that you didn't donate.
