In one of my recent threads, I rubber duck'ed my tendency to reach for ableist slurs when chiding myself for making mental mistakes. I think there's value in modeling this kind of process; the zeroth step of being an ally is listening, and I think the first is then deprogramming yourself. Critical introspection isn't valued in American culture though, because it can't be packaged and sold, and since even the most general introspection is highly individuated, it's difficult to teach, so it's unlikely to be learned by even those who can afford college. I think I'm good at introspection, so I also think if I make some of my attempts public, maybe others can glean some insight into their own process.

That being said, I shouldn't rub my toxic shit in anyone's face. This toot is to explain how I'll be tagging threads that are deprogramming rubber ducks, which will be made as unlisted toots in the future, but if you follow me, you can filter any of these should you not want to see them.

Specific *kinds* of deprogramming will be tagged as such with the suffix 'Guilt', for example, #whiteGuilt or #abledGuilt or #amabGuilt. Listening is both the zeroth step and the n-th step though, so if any of my toots, ducks or otherwise, expose a blind spot in my self cognizance that is not tagged, please feel free to DM or @ me; I will make a note and thank you for your feedback.

Other than replies that call in/out, if a Mastodoner replies with something that amounts to, "But what about *my* rights?!", I will most likely reply with a link to this toot and then mute them.
