person who spends an unreasonable amount of money and time on the hobby of searching out and mapping wireless networks Also see: stumbler, wiglerWigle.net is ground zero for a lot of tracking, but there are lots of other sites and platforms that quantify and gamify the act.
Why? Adventure, invisible internet points, community, exploration, pushing the limits of detection rigs, etc.
Analog: when we were kids why did we spend so much time in the same woods, flipping over rocks and logs, wading in the stream? To see what was under them and to spot that new crawfish😎
There’s a LOT of crawfish out there and a lot of ways to find them! 🦞 📡

The #m5stack AtomGPS is such a tiny and only moderately capable #wardrive device. Why bother?

Holy WiFi Batman! Just passed the 7,000,000 Observed APs mark. It only took 21 years and 11 months of #wardrive fun!

Looked away from the @WiGLEnet stats for a minute and the total files parsed count jumped from 7,999,909 to 8,000,156!
That’s a LOT of files. I appear to have contributed some 20,000 of them since 2004.

Noticed a few interesting @WiGLEnet stats:
- just crossed the 5 Billion unique Bluetooth device count. I know that number is a bit sus, but yowza!
- closing fast on 8 million files parsed. That’s #allTheWifi but more keeps showing up

It is COLD out there. Drove through Cedar Riverside to 4 Corners for #theatreInTheRound and thankfully all is quiet.
Left two #wardrive rigs running in the car in the parking ramp, flat-lined both batteries in less than 3 hours due to the temperatures! Captured only some of the #allTheWifi

Gotta say I am liking the disable Bluetooth option on the @jhewitt #wardriver that I modded in
The modified #signalSleuth consistently getting 900+ more WiFi samples in side by side runs with BLE active. More radio time = more WiFi!

First day of #wwdc33 suffered from some auto malfunctions, but a quick vehicle switch got at least a bit of progress on the quad.
Maybe it’s time to ditch this 21 year old Jeep?

Was preoccupied with prep for my son's run of #grandmasMarathon and completely missed that June 18 was my *21st* anniversary on @WiGLEnet
Been doing the #wardrive since 2004. The rigs have come SO far in that time. The wireless tech has propagated to unimaginable density.
And I'm here to put #dotsOnMaps and capture #allTheWifi (and BlueTooth) that will show it's face :)

Yaaaa, kid brought the #signalSleuth slim yesterday to upload a month’s worth of drives. 100+ files later, I (we) moved to #56 on the @WiGLEnet big board!

Hey @jhewitt any thoughts on a 1.2.1 release of the #wardriver code?
I took one of my 1.2.0 (5G mod) units into the belly of the Bluetooth beast today and it was not happy. ESP-B reset-o-rama. Sadly this one is really hard to flash without total disassembly, so an official release with the BLE fixes would be great to have.
Anything we can lean in to test in the 1.2.1 prerelease to help?
