i am *this* close to beating #AlwasAwakening and i am definitely liking it
solid metroidvania design with very good interconnectedness
the difficulty is kinda high at times but manageable

#gaming update
started playing #AlwasAwakening. I'm pretty far into it. it's a very nice non-linear exploration game (#metroidvania) with strong interconnection between areas. leans on the more difficult side.
also started playing #RelayerAdvanced. strategy RPG kind of thing. strong art and music. i've only played the tutorial battles so far though since it's very resource-heavy, at least for my laptop which runs quite hot when i'm playing it. also, the English voice acting is okay but too quiet and too calm for some reason
edit: elaborated on the English voice acting
There's another #FreeGame at #GOG: Alwa's Awakening, the first game in the Alwa series. https://www.gog.com/en/game/alwas_awakening
It's a #PixelArt 2D platformer #metroidvania. I actually bought it a while ago on #itchio, as well as its sequel Alwa's Legacy, but I haven't played either game yet.
Neat!
Personal Computer version of #AlwasAwakening is currently on GOG giveaway!

NES version is in discount!
Let's give this one another try! Need to finish #AlwasAwakening before buying @FrankenGraphics #ProjectBlue
Yay, got the easter egg in #AlwasAwakening! (spoiler, obviously)
Yay, someone made cheevos for #AlwasAwakening
One interesting thing that came up tonight during our stream of #AlwasAwakening is that @rainwarrior had to reverse engineer the movement of a boss by examining the original motion frame by frame and replicating it with quadratic #Bézier curves in NES hardware.
Aside from the theoretical interest of doing Bézier calculations on the NES, I found it very interesting that reverse engineering was needed at all. This is because the "source" is in Unity
Browsing the #NESdev tag on Twitter and found that someone has already taken a cool pic of the #AlwasAwakening physical edition
I have to wait ONE WHOLE WEEK before I can play #AlwasAwakening again so now I'm doing that thing again where I am just reading the manual over and over again to hold me off.
The artwork is so cute!
I really like how with retro games you get the artwork twice: once in the manual, once in pixels. It's a twofer!
I'm a little sad I can't tell people to buy physical copies of the game anymore, but at least there will be a ROM release of #AlwasAwakening coming soon.
