Considering all the Chipmunk live-action movies, except the first, contain a pun:
"The Squeakquel"
"Chipwrecked"
"Road Chip"I'm proposing my own, next Chipmunk live-action idea:
"Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipmonks"
The Chipmunks and Chipettes witness a murder (or whatever is acceptable for the age rating) and thus have to spend some weeks in witness protection in a monastery.
The boys are, obviously, disguised as monks, while the girls dress up as nuns, which will certainly only cause very SFW ("safe for work") fanart.
(And no, no one questions why six clerics are so small.)
Yes, the plot is completely stolen from Sister Act, but I'll be honest, I'd totally watch this movie and will add it to the fanfics I want to write but will never do. 😅

Aaand I watched the "Chipmunks Adventure".
It was surprisingly nice. I certainly recommend it if you liked the 1983 TV show, or the Chipmunks and Chipettes in general.
Some really lovel backgrounds, as usual for theatrical releases at that time, Greek statues, detailed jungle trees and other plans, and the characters, well, mostly the girls, even wear several different outfits, something I always enjoy, cartoon characters actually wearing different outfits!
So, I liked it. The plot was...unrealistic, but the antagonists are surprisingly serious. A little bit like a Rescuers-light with less deep emotion but musical numbers instead. 😁
Fair warning: Certainly some racial stereotypes. 😅

I've added the "Chipmunks Adventure" to my collection of Chipmunks movies.
I'm not a Chipmunks music fan, but as I said some months ago, I did quite enjoy the live action movies. And as I also grew up with the cartoon show, I thought I should give that movie a try, as well!
I think the style of the old show is fine, contrary to some of the new 3D shows, but I actually like the real "animal design" of the live action movies.
But both are fine.That said: It's really strange how I really like the 3D models of the live action movies "in action", but all promotional art and many screencaps look strange/bad. But trust me, the Chipettes look really cute in the movies! (and I'm still sad their role in Road Chip was stupid small. 😭)

There's not enough Simon x Jeanette romance fanfic that's based on the Chipmunks live action movies, just saying.

Okay, ya know, I'm not a fan of the "new" Chipmunks show, the 3D animated one, because I prefer the actual animal-look of the CGI live action movies and because the character models in the new show look comparative cheap.
But I've been told it is quite nice and Jeanette's official character description is:
"She’s more interested in leaving a zero carbon footprint than having her socks match."
And if THAT is how she is in that show, I really need to watch it and I'll love her even more than I do anyway because Jeanette has always been the lovely one to me. ❤️
I guess I'll have to swallow the style and give the show a try.

Alright, I binge-watched all four Chipmunks movies, as you've been able to read.
All four are at least good, the third one is the best, but the fourth one is also really nice.
Fuck critic scores, they made me happy. ♥️
(The fourth one severely lacked Chipettes, though!)So, ten years since the last one.
I'll sit here and wait for a fifth now. 😁And with that, I'll shut about it for a few minutes now!

Okay, sorry, I REALLY can't agree with critics anymore.
Chipmunks 3 was an absolutely lovely and adorable movie and I have no clue why critics and viewers alike rate it so horribly online.
It's cute, heartfelt and the characters fit their original personalities better than in the movies before.
It has cute romance, family love, redemption arcs and everything!
This is a fun movie even outside of a Chipmunk view.
I'm gonna write my own reviews and just listen to them!

Alright, the first "Alvin and the Chipmunks" live action movie was fine.
Typical USA comedy and mostly very predictable, but it had several fun moments and the Chipmunks are cute in both, behavior and look.
I think they did a fine job in making them into actual animals.The would-be romance feels very forced and between two characters that would make for the most stereotypical, basic normie-romance as typical for such movies, luckily it doesn't have much of a part.
But overall it's a cute family movie with cute CGI characters.
I'm already into the second movie 30 minutes now, just taking a break to stop the heat from killing me.
Let's see if I can stand yet another USA highschool stereotype movie. 😁But damn, the Chipettes are really damn cute!

I still have to see any of them.
The ratings seem quite abysmal, so, I wonder if I will also hate them or if it's the usual case of "I'm entertained by basically everything." 😄

Beoordeling:
Toen Noor en Daan de filmreeks van Alvin and the chipmunks gingen kijken, was ik wat huiverig. Ik kende de tekenfilmserie uit mijn eigen jeugd, maar ik had geen hoge verwachtingen. Maar de films zijn opvallend leuk en goed gemaakt. De muziek is catchy, het verhaal zit aardig in elkaar en de personages zijn grappig. En zelfs drie films kijken kost weinig moeite. De makers mikken niet op hoogwaardige kunstzinnige expressie, maar voor een vermakelijke middag kun je er zelfs een marathon van maken en alle drie de films achter elkaar kijken.
