The time has come to format my phone and find a Google-free (or at least Google-non-dependant) OS, since many of the apps I use come from F-Droid.

I'm a little scared and a little excited, but mainly worried I might lose something important in the transition (eg, the ability to use my bank apps or something similar).

This is the slavery Google has silently imposed on all of us. 😔

Przyszła do mnie Xperia z SailfishOS. Moje pierwsze wrażenia po paru godzinach:
- system wygląda elegancko i czysto, obsługuje się go bardzo iOS-owo (100% gestów-niestety dla mnie, ale nie jest to coś, co sprawia, że jest nieużywalny). Równocześnie z wyglądu jest mało podobny do iOS; to jest po prostu Linux na smartfony i trzeba porzucić przyzwyczajenia z Androida.
-główna atrakcja, czyli możliwość używania aplikacji Androida, działa dość stabilnie. Można doinstalować F-Droida, a przez niego Aurorę czy kto co sobie życzy. Jeszcze nie testowałem bardziej zasobożernych aplikacji, ale te kilkanaście zainstalowanych narzędzi, Fennec i Open Camera działają dobrze i bez przywieszek.
-na ile się zorientowałem, ta kompatybilność jest wykonana przez zrobienie jakiegoś sandboxa z Androidem 11 (u mnie; wersja zależy od modelu telefonu) w środku. Nie wiem nic o technikaliach, czy to emulacja czy kontener.
-aplikacji natywnych trochę jest i w sklepie Jolli wiatr nie hula, ale jest to wciąż jeszcze typowy zbiór programów jak do małej dystrybucji Linuxa - co dany deweloper miał to dodał. Dlatego pewne rodzaje aplikacji są nadreprezentowane, a innych całkiem brak.
-menu ustawień jest bardzo czytelne, wisienką na torcie są "opcje deweloperskie", które składają się tak naprawdę tylko z jednego - dostępu do pełnej linuksowej konsoli ze wszystkimi możliwościami, oraz ustawienia połączenia po ssh.

Na razie jestem zaciekawiony i czuję, że pieniędzy nie wydałem na darmo. Więcej niebawem. #sailfishos #jolla #linux #freeyourmobile #alternativeto
