  1. Just took my #AlpKit Aeronaut bike packing tent out of it's bag after a long time.

I was scared that it's air pole might have perished, but it all looks good (and I'm sure AlpKit would have been able to replace it if needed)

Now to find some practice rides before looking at doing the ScotsDuro in September.

  3. Now that Alpkit's future seems a little more stable (for the short term, at least): I've got a pile of reward codes to use that I'll never get through before they expire.

I can gift them to other people, perhaps in exchange for a donation to my JustGiving page of 50% of the code value.

If you're interested, get in touch. I'll provide a code of your chosen value, and trust you to make a donation once you've successfully used the code.

  5. #alpkit gear is always well priced and good quality, the packaging is an absolute delight as well.

  6. I think 13 years of very regular use (commuting, carrying groceries, trips etc.) is pretty good for a £22.50 waterproof #rucksack. Sadly the lining was going, and tears were starting to appear. Luckily #alpkit still make the same bag, a Gourdon 20 in chili red (now 45€).

  8. This is probably the hardest adventure my long suffering #AlpKit Gordon daypack has had to endure.

  10. Making the most of our weekend in Kielder by getting out on the big bike today. First time round the Lonesome Pine trail. Feeling a bit out of practice, and didn't have anybody with me, so taking it very steady on the way down, but great fun. Definitely worth having another go when I'm feeling more confident.

  12. LEAVE NO TRACE?

Nice article in the Alpkit advertising mag (I love this company).

I'll quote a paragraph, from Alastair Humphreys, but the whole is in the photograph.

"There's an irony in the phrase 'Leave No Trace'. Of course, we should tread lightly - packing out our rubbish, respecting wildlife, and not tramping wildflowers. But what if, instead of leaving no trace, we made more effort to leave a positive trace? A smile to a stranger. A cleaned-up fire pit. A friendly conversation with a farmer. Instead of sneaking through the land as if we don't belong what if we walked through it as caretakers?

  13. I've wanted to try an shirt for a while, but the price always seemed a bit crazy. Took advantage of their 20% sale weekend to give one a try. It does feel amazing. Like a smooth, soft flannel, but really stretchy; it's 5% spandex. Hoping it's worth it!! 😬🤞

  15. Went bivvy bagging at the end of last week at the same place I tested at, surprised how warm I was and the new kit held up perfectly!

Can't wait to do this some more during the summer with a few hikes!

  16. Took the #hunka #bivvy out for a test the other day, so excited to use this properly. Just need less rain...

  17. 🚴 With Forest at the frame builder, Ritchey the Backup at the wheel builder, and my MTB being wrong for the trip, the friend I sold my old adventure bike to is kindly letting me borrow it back.

💪🏼 Bike of Theseus Returns! 🍻

He’s even washed it for me! 😍

Emptied the Struggle Bus of chainsaws and machetes. 😔

    Stripped Ritchey for parts.

Grabbed a bivvy bag and some sustainable bike bits from #AlpKit.

Gotta pack the bike then haul my ass to the ferry, but it’s looking like a bike holiday! 🇮🇹🤌🏻

  19. Great walk up Beamsley Beacon near Ilkley today.

First outing for a new #Alpkit toy to brew some tea at the summit.

No better reward for the effort!

  20. @ChrisMayLA6 don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

Every #BCorp I’ve discovered in the #UK are existing, honest, reputable companies that have taken a step to formalise their values (#Riverford, #Alpkit, #KrystalHosting, #ZenInternet). It’s an extra badge or stamp that acknowledges their effort and certifies their honesty. Maybe in some cases it is not “enough” - of course there are always improvements to be made in anything… but it is something; something good.

  21. These new "Bloc" trousers are great. Soft, comfortable, smooth waist under harness. Top-tip: always buy climbing trousers that are stretchier than you are!! 😂

  22. Productive evening in the garage: new tyres and new brake discs on new wheels, new wheels on (old) bike.

Still have to add sealant, but I'll do that when it's ready to roll; need to swap out a cracked brake/gear lever bracket first.

  24. Brand new Kisdon open-water goggles... outstanding, even if the curved lenses make you look bug-eyed! 😂 Swam 1km (15°C) and no hint of leaks or mist. 🏊‍♂️

  25. First outing with my Sonder Cortex yesterday... I may have left a trail of mud along Hadrian's Cycleway on the way home! 😁👍
