100 years ago, Carl Schroeter published the extraordinary book "Das Pflanzenleben der Alpen" (Plant Life of the Alps). Of course, our knowledge largely progressed since then. I am still impressed, how much of what is written is still textbook knowledge and how much they knew already, back then.

Last field work day for 2024 🤠
Snowy, not too cold but very nice view over the #LTSER area Matschertal/Val Mazia.

Replaced a #SoilTemp logger at 2500m that was destroyed by cows...
No metal cage resists a cow's rage 🐄

Further, checked on of #EuracResearch|s #AlpEnv meteo station at 2400m.

What an intensive week of #alpine #SoilBiodiversity sampling. Despite being holidays in 🇮🇹, we climbed up #mountains in 🇦🇹 in the #NationalParkHoheTauern for our #SnowBeds project (w/ @uniinnsbruck & @unibern).
