Iran cancels Swiss trip due to Israeli attacks on Lebanon: Sources
The Iranian negotiating delegation has postponed its trip to Switzerland due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on southern Lebanon, an informed source told Al Mayadeen on Thursday. According to the source, the delegation had already been preparing to depart Iran and launch the first round of negotiations, scheduled to span 60 days, before the decision to suspend the trip was made.Tehran had previously informed both Washington and the mediators that the Lebanon file remains a central component of the negotiations and will directly influence whether the talks proceed, the source stated, citing Iranian warnings that continued Israeli aggression extending up to 10 kilometers deep inside Lebanese territory constitutes a clear violation of the first clause of the Memorandum of Understanding and the framework agreement.Iran's position in support of a ceasefire in Lebanon and the preservation of its sovereignty has been consistent throughout the war and beyond. Previously, Iran suspended diplomatic messaging with the United States after "Israel" targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut, and closed the Strait of Hormuz after Israeli massacres swept the country.

In a post on X, Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf described the US F-35 as a symbol of invincibility and arrogance of the US military, "an almost theological icon said to be unseen by any eye and superior to any power," Ghalibaf wrote.
"This symbol was struck for the first time in the world," the Parliament Speaker wrote, referring to the IRGC's Thursday announcement of hitting an F-35 Lightning II fighter jet in the skies over central Iran.
The IRGC posted a video showing how the fighter jet was tracked and hit by the Iranian armed forces.
This is indeed unprecedented, as Lockheed Martin's fifth-generation fighter jet has not been hit before and was only involved in non-combat accidents.
