I’ve been practicing all day after my morning class with @jurgen_vercaemst through the @thegentlepenman site. This is the last one I did and my hand and shoulder were tired, very tired. Using a sponge brush saturated in water I decide to test it by lettering with it. Then dropped watercolor ink on them. The ink is so concentrated. Next time I’ll dilute it more. Back to my usual daily practice! In Milan our taxi driver was very upset that we wanted a cab instead of walking to the hotel. He kept saying “mama mia”! Both of our phones said it’d be a 10 minute walk. With our bags it could easily take 20. We were a lot closer than we realized. Botero is one of my favorite artists. very saddened to learn he died. His style was known as “boterism”. He painted everyone in large and supple proportions—almost to the point —but sometimes not quite, distortion. Much of the work was satirical though other times filled with political criticism.
