  1. I need translation for an easier ecosia search.
How do allistic people describe "nauseous above knee"?
It's like the 2 or 3 inches above the top of my right kneecap.
I'm literally only getting separate results for "feeling sick" and "knee / joint pain".
The area above my kneecap feels nausea. How tf do I research that?

  6. I noticed how many of the #allistic people and especially organisations tend to just walk all over my schedule. They are surprised when they show up half an hour too early and it makes me stressed and grumpy. In turn they get stressed and grumpy when I just send them away until it's time for them to show up. Why do we even make an appointment, when they intend to show up when ever. 🤷 #adhd #autism

  7. @johnnyprofane1 I think this is perfect just as it is, and entirely accurate. I consider both #ABA and #CBT the #LGBTQ equivalent of #ConversionTherapy.

If we accept that #nuerodifference involves physiology, then what exactly are we supposed to be fixing? We are not broken. At best we need to learn to cope with #toxic indifference of #allistic society.

  12. @johnnyprofane1 There is so much about the normative #allistic social gauntlet I just don’t get. Sometimes I wonder if this perplexing outcome of expressed #individuality and obvious surrender to #populism is merely a continuation of that same game that happens in our teens, and they just never got over it.

I suppose I didn’t consider if my confusion over #political behavior might also be part of my social #dissonance. Very possibly!

  13. @lkanies @hmm_cook It may be worth clarifying what we’re motivating our #neurodifferent kids FOR?

We maintain #routines for daily living needs… getting ready school, homework, bath and bed time.

For #interests, it’s best to let them self-pilot. We can introduce them to new things and see what sticks. But are #allistic kids so malleable that it works differently for them? If anything, we worked to maintain multiple interests.

  14. @theynege I would start by responding that no one should have to explain themselves. Why is everyone naturally expected to buy into #allistic expectations?

I would simply offer that #neurodifferent people don’t often just socialize because. We often require some shared connection before we engage with people, partly because this requires a real expenditure of mental energy. And if we’re already drained for other reasons then it’s even less likely to occur.

From 22 Sep: The Sneakiness Of Embedded Allistic Ableism - Insisting that the subtext you get from a conversation is intentional is not just a bad strategy, it’s also kinda ableist. ideatrash.net/2023/09/the-snea #neurospicy #prejudice #psychology #ableism #allistic #autism #business #neurodivergence

  16. Dear #Allistic people,
Why are you so resistant to letting people have alone time?
    #AskAllistics

Yes, I'm actually asking cause I don't get it.

  17. I'mma do it!

    Dear #Allistic people,
Why do so many of you want to touch me?
    #AskAllistics

    🤣

  18. I present here an allegory about the autistic and allistic mind, seen as gardens. It can help explain, for some, how people who looked allistic all their life turn out to be autistic.

  19. Asking #allistic about #autism is like asking fishes about #Birdism: being scared about breathing under water. Ducks are highfunctioning-birds and hummingbirds low-functioning.

Because they judge "functioning" by the ability to accept having the head under water. The longer, the more functioning.

Showing fear of drowing is a symptom, that can be reduced by exposing the bird to water again and again. The best way to (dis)solve the problem, is to "teach" the bird to be under water.

  20. @mattblaze But you’re just supposed to acquiesce and do as we say. Then everything will be as it should. Haven’t you grokked the #ableist agenda yet…? There’s no rationalizing #allistic #righteousness and #privilege.

I was in a school district SPED meeting today. The looks on their faces when i remarked, “Staff requires training to understand the harm done by expecting children and parents to mask for their benefit,” truly warmed my heart. 🤣🤣🤣 #ActuallyAutistic

  21. @MindfulnessBelle @actuallyautistic 🤣🤣 I just disable the stream of consciousness filter until they get that anxious flight response look. Ah! My work is done here. #ActuallyAutistic

It reminds me of one of my favorite expressions. “If that thing I said scares you, just remember that my filter works.”

Or “Are you REALLY sure you want me to answer that?” Most only make this error once. If they do it again I don’t stop to ask.

    I use these as #allistic #training aids. 🤣🤣

  22. @danseurignoble I’m sorry, but I refuse that #allistic #delay label. Compared to who? Ugh. Yes we #neurodivergent folks do things differently but that never diminishes us. That’s accomplished by allistics that insist the world in theirs and only their perspective matters. #BULLSHIT! #ActuallyAustistic #AutisticAF

You adult at whatever pace is relevant to and healthy for you. ❤️

  23. @RaulKrauthausen

  24. @ashleyspencer @ReimanSaara @actuallyautistic The most important part of our finding each other is understanding our own #diversity and giving each other #space to BE #different and accepted, where the #allistic world demands #conformity and #compliance. We simply can’t do that in all ways at all times, and it drains us to #mask for them. We need #safe, comfortable, #accepting spaces outside that #intolerant world. #actuallyautistic

  25. @redsage these sorts of exercises - ugh. Fucking sadistic games. Deriving from a misery-inducing #allistic normativity.

  26. I think I just made a connection about why I seem so hypersensitive to #advertising relative to #allistic folks.

It’s the fact that an ad is an interruption, from a colonizer, who wants to colonize me with their shitty memes. And my attention is a mercurial and precious thing.

Rage is a perfectly reasonable response to this kind of intrusion. Even if you’re *not* #ActuallyAutistic.

  27. @derwinmcgeary I’m especially curious about this in the context of #autistic vs #allistic peoples’ experiences…?

  28. @joshsusser it’s a natural response to the #isolation we feel, being constantly bombarded by the #normative #allistic default. It’s startling and #empowering to discover we aren’t alone, that others (many others, in fact) are experiencing the world in this #different way. This reaction is ironically quite natural. I’ve experienced it each time I’ve #comeout. Finding #community is empowering! #actuallyautistic #lgbtq #bdsm @actuallyautistic

    Danke Dir!
