Celle d'entendre le représentant des Émirats Arabes Unis à l' #OPEP, Ayed El-Qahtani, refuser catégoriquement que soit ne serait-ce que mentionné dans le texte final, la sortie des énergies fossiles.

Comment aurait-il pu prévoir ce coup de théâtre, ce cher président #AlJaber ?
Ce n'est pas comme si il avait des relations quotidiennes avec le représentant de son pays à l'OPEP, en tant que Pdt de Abu Dhabi Oil ET de ministre de l'industrie.

Faut pas voir le mal partout, il est surement aussi embêté et surpris que nous par ce rebondissement.
Vidée de sa raison d'être, la sortie des énergies fossiles, de quelle souris va bien pouvoir accoucher maintenant cette montagne d'auto-congratulations et de promesses dans le vide, et que s'apelorio COP28 ?

Über Land haben wir die 1,5° bereits gerissen, den «vorindustriell» ist eben nicht 1950–80. Dubai plant massiv verstärkte Ölförderung. Profitieren, solange man kann – bezahlen werden die anderen.
Und in Europa meinen die meisten Politikis auch, man habe noch viel Zeit.

@SuneAuken True. Perhaps the greatest contribution of #COP28 and #AlJaber to real climate action is to actually have made crystal-clear evident that COP is infested by fossil fuel interests. But the price is too high, again more wasted time, rising emissions and kick the can even more.

#AlJaber als Auslaufmodell? War das etwa eine bewusst gesetzte Provokation?

Viele empören sich über die Aussagen des Sultans. Ich frage mich hingegen, was in den Köpfen der Mehrheit der #COP28 Teilnehmer:innen angesichts derartig frech-dummer Ignoranz vorgegangen ist. Zustimmung? Fremdschämen? Wut?

„Aber man muss doch alle mitnehmen“, sagte mir ein Kollege, als wir über die Präsenz und Dominanz der fossilen Industrie in #COP28 + seinen Präsidenten #AlJaber gesprochen haben.

Nun, sie wollen aber gar nicht mit. Sie glauben einfach daran nicht und werden es nie tun. Und sie wollen den Weg für alle dahin sprengen.
