Yes: the score. The music is really good. I’m sitting through the closing credits because the music is so good.

The sets and cinematography are also quite good. They really had good atmosphere and shots. Eventually film companies gave up making big sets like this. It’s still 1997 and they still make sets.

And they pull various things right from the original films. The computer is named “Father”? In Alien it was “Mother.”

There’s a scene of lighting up the ship by remote. Just like in Aliens.

And so much strobe and fog.

It appears the aliens just exude water.

The writing and acting is really terrible. Sigourney Weaver is amazing. She can act even with this shit script.

So many stupid things. Like blasting these clone tubes with a flame thrower, and they explode because they got fire on them? And then the ship’s fire suppression system does nothing.

And then there’s the whole “we have to swim through a flooded kitchen… several times” thing. So it turns into a shark movie for a few minutes.

And the whole thing is just “we have to get from point A to point B”.

And then there’s the whole dude who is infected but they bring him with them. Like a zombie movie.

I'm watching Alien: Resurrection for the first time and it is exceedingly goofy. The basketball scene starting with Ripley dunking and ending with her having acidic blood is pretty bold. So many little dumb little jokes so far too. The whiskey cube and the goofy cash. Brad Dourif's silver ponytail holder.
