Apps like Raycast, KRunner, Alfred, and Spotlight are commonly called Application Launchers. They’re so much more than that though. If you really about it — They’re really GUI Command Lines. GCL for short.

I am constantly thinking of an album to listen to next, but it's a giant pain to write it down before i forget about it.

I just created a new #alfredapp workflow to do the following:

- Use a keyword prompt for "playlist”
- Take whatever i type as input and add the current date and time and the text, and append it to an Apple Note called "Playlist”.

Super rudimentary for now, bu this is exactly what I need.

Just created a pretty neat #automation with #AlfredApp that does the following:

Typing “journal” followed by some text designating an entry title creates a new #DayOne and opens the #DayOneApp to that new entry.

J'ai aussi des corrections "sans déclencheur", sur des mots sur lesquels je fais tout le temps des fautes de frappe.

Mes raccourcis "normaux" commencent par un caractère déclencheur, par exemple ",eml" est remplacé par mon adresse mail perso (,ftml et ,antml par mes adresses mail pro), mais "alros" est automatiquement remplacé par "alors" et "Nahtalie" par "Nathalie" (oui, je ne sais pas taper mon nom, j'ai 6 correctifs possibles enregistrés :homer:)

La logique, c'est de ne pas retaper plusieurs fois une explication longue. Je la tape une fois, je lui associe un raccourcis, et elle est à dispo quand je veux.

Au pire, si je ne me rappelle pas du raccourcis, je vais la chercher dans Alfred, mais ça a dû m'arriver 2 fois en tout et pour tout.

Les autres trucs qui me font gagner un temps fou au quotidien :

- le nom complet + lien de chacun des trainings que je fais faire à chaque client
- des raccourcis divers de mots que j'orthographie mal 3 fois sur 4 (genre ",UD" => Unstructured Document)
- quelques mails explicatifs que j'envoie régulièrement (explications pour setup un domaine custom, les cookies qu'on utilise et à quoi ils servent, quelques marches à suivre...)

J'ai pas trop professé mon amour total et absolu envers Alfred ici encore, je crois, alors laissez-moi commencer avec la dernière "autocomplétion" que j'ai mis en place :

quand je tape "=14h", Alfred le transforme automatiquement par 2pm CET / 5am PST / 8am EST / 5:30pm IST.

Mes clients sont situés aux US & en Inde, c'est l'enfer pour proposer des créneaux, ça me fait gagner un temps fou de ne plus avoir à chercher et/ou taper toutes les équivalences à chaque fois.

Just de-installed https://www.alfredapp.com/whats-new/ #AlfredApp Company forced an upgrade, and the new version has 'AI' integration.

One of my fav #Alfredapp workflows:
"r <reminder text>"

Adds a new reminder without opening Reminders at all.

Another one: menu search.

"m <text>" looks for <text> in menubar menus, so you can launch with keyboard even commands that do not have keyboard shortcuts. Incredibly, mind-mendingly useful.

(et j'ai aussi 2 ou 3 snippets blague, du genre "Darmanin" qui est remplacé automatiquement par "l'abject Darmanin", ce qui me fait mourir de rire à chaque fois, vu que je ne le tape pas souvent, donc j'oublie d'une fois sur l'autre)

J'ai aussi des raccourcis "code" que j'utilise sur mon blog :

;emen = <em lang="en"></em>

;bq = un blockquote tout propre avec le contenu de mon presse papier collé dedans

;lien = un lien avec le contenu de mon presse papier en URL et le curseur placé pour saisir le texte du lien

;vid = idem avec une vidéo

et j'ai aussi des raccourcis sans "déclencheur", pour corriger des fautes de frappe récurrentes, du genre "aps" au lieu de "pas" ou "Nahtalie" au lieu de "Nathalie"

Pour les snippets, j'ai de tout :

- mail complet avec juste 2/3 mots à remplacer : j'utilise peu souvent, mais ça fait gagner bcp de temps

- formules toutes faites : "sava" = "Je vais très bien, je vous remercie. J'espère qu'il en est de même pour vous." // "gd" = "Have a great day, Nathalie Pauchet"

- j'ai toutes mes adresses email, mon adresse postale, mon numéro de tel en raccourcis. Pas de faute de frappe, pas de "y'a un point ou pas sur cette adresse là ?"

Mon plus gros usage, c'est les raccourcis de recherche et les snippets.

"j FT-1987" m'ouvre le ticket "FT-1987" dans le jira de ma boîte, sans avoir besoin d'avoir le focus sur mon navigateur et d'ouvrir un nouvel onglet.

"jw Fargo" me fait une recherche pour Fargo sur Just Watch

"dof L'éternelle moisson" me fait une recherche pour une quête sur Dofus pour les noobs

C'est très dur de s'en passer quand on a pris l'habitude.

Je ne crois pas avoir déjà parlé d'Alfred ici, alors que ce soft me fait gagner un temps fou tous les jours 👀

Exemple du matin : je dois faire mes comptes et vérifier mon budget déménagement. Flemme.

Je tape "motherlode" dans Alfred, ça me lance automatiquement mon soft de compta, le site de ma banque, l'historique Paypal et mon tableur prévisionnel du déménagement.

Je ricane bêtement de la référence, et je me lance dans mes comptes sans perdre 5 minutes à tout ouvrir.

This is the #AlfredApp workflow mapping function keys on our #HTPC Mac Mini. It’s a whole thing but works quite well!

It’s a bit disappointing that my favorite #macOS launcher #AlfredApp cannot find any of the new Safari Web Apps, unless I drag them into the main Applications folder.

BTW - great info from @jsnell in the latest @upgrade episode that Safari web apps are actually created in your User/Applications folder and pinned to the dock So if you remove it from the dock, the web app is still there…
