On April 28, the project #Alevi Archive will be introduced at the @saw_leipzig in #Leipzig, offering insights into its ethnohistorical and #digitalhumanities components, accompanied by Alevi hymns and informal exchange with the team.

Actually, I don't want to take up political issues here.
However, today is the 30th anniversary of the Sivas massacre. In this massacre, 35 innocent people, including 9 teenagers, were killed by a radical islamist mob. They had burnt down a hotel where an #Alevi cultural festival was being held.30 years of no justice.

The coming to power of the Islamist-rooted Justice and Development Party ( #AKP ) in 2002 raised fears among many Alevis that they would face marginalisation by Sunni chauvinism.
In December, there was an outcry after the head of the British #Alevi Federation was detained while flying to Istanbul to attend a commemoration of the 1978 Maras massacre.
The massacre, which took place in the southern city of #Kahramanmaras, saw almost 200 Alevis killed by members of the far-right Grey Wolves. The Grey Wolves, officially known as Ulku Ocaklari, are linked to the Nationalist Movement Party ( #MHP ), currently political allies of the ruling AKP
I have heard anecdotally that Turkish governmental aid since the recent earthquake is withheld from Alevi villages -- a good reason to give to international aid agencies.
