I remember someone here asked me if Waveshare UPS HAT (E) is any good - i believe they are and I have two.
We expect a rough winter here in Ukraine in terms of electricity, so I vibecoded a fork of the official Waveshare code for this UPS that not only shows a tray icon and allows for a safe shutdown, but also sends free #alertzy notifications to your phone whenever power is lost and restored.

It’s #blackout times again in Ukraine, so I immediately ordered and installed a new UPs Hat (E) by #Waveshare. As you can see in the photo - installed it also in the absence of electricity, but that’s ok 😃.
Benefits:
1) capacity - 4x21700 batteries - my Pi5 runs all day on those 🤩
2) USB-C with PD support - works with official Pi PSU 🙌🏻
2) fast charge - it takes 40W - crucial for our situation 🔌
3) software - I’ll add push notifications via #alertzy , but it’s awesome anyway -

Had some fun with an example code by Waveshare for their UPS Hat (B).
I added an ability to not only monitor how much battery you have left, but also:
1) made sure you have a safe shutdown2) cancel a shutdown if you plug your Pi before the scheduled power off time
3) stop qbittorrent-nox whenever Pi switches to batteries
4) start qbittorrent-nox again when Pi is charging and has 80% battery or more
