  1. 5/5 #Aldeburgh

The gulls are everywhere and very noisy. This one seems to be dripping with contempt for humanity.

You can't leave out Maggi Hambling's Scallop on Aldeburgh Beach - a tribute to fellow local Benjamin Britten with a quotation in cut-out lettering from his opera, Peter Grimes: "I hear those voices that will not be drowned"

  3. Here's another staircase shadow snap to complement yesterday's post - and is a bonus from my #ir #aldeburgh set last week.

To finish this set here's an old boat on Aldeburgh's shingle beach.

Another #infrared shot from a week in Aldeburgh on the #Suffolk cost. Here's a shed and tree just by the Alde estuary.

I'm back from a week in Aldeburgh on the #Suffolk cost. One day I went for a circular walk and took just #infrared images.

  8. Again #Newsquest is adding random #crime reports from other areas amongst local ones.

If you are not paying attention or click through or just skimming the headlines, it would be very easy to assume the murder happened in #Clacton / #Harwich #Felixstowe / or even #Southwold or #Aldeburgh (these last two "posh" places still sometimes have problems with youth #violence )

(the incident occured in #Scotland - a very long distance from #Suffolk or #Essex )

It might drive traffic to the news site, but Maybe #Ofcom needs to intervene here and discourage this kind of headline aggregation - all it does is increase fear of #crime in the local area..

  9. Two hours in #Aldeburgh churchyard in #Suffolk with my sister and brother-in-law recording graves from our paternal line. An ancient churchyard map, a typed index, looking up (unrelated) readable stones to place our current location and where the grave we wanted was in relation to that.

    What fun!

  10. Painting of my 3xgreat grandfather. Fisherman, shipping pilot, lifeboatman, salvageman. Robert Easter 1808-1884, painted in 1855.

  11. Two hour visit to my paternal ancestral home, Aldeburgh, Suffolk, UK. Graves, lifeboat disaster memorials, museum artefacts - given to an ancestor by Edward Vll. An exciting time, and the hysteria of sitting in the church where they were baptised, married, and buried still hasn't quite dissipated a week later!
