  1. Another feature of the endless melons saga. Decision to go on the program was a captain's call by #Albo, one of a series in which he has revealed his true self. Piers Morgan interview ("define a woman"), Sandilands wedding, LGBT census question, Grace Tame, Sarah Williams etc. This is our PM #auspl

  2. Labor women forced to demean themselves, again, in a situation where all of the contenders to succeed Albo are men.

Saying "nothing to see here, move on" hasn't worked. The only way to stop calls for an apology is to apologise, and the longer #Albo waits, the worse it will look.

  3. Surprised people defending #albo over #melons. He went on a show based on childish double entendres, then directed one at a foreign leader, then pretended it was out of context. Not a huge deal, but gratuitous harm to our national interest done in the pursuit of some imagined bogan voter. #auspol

  4. Really disgusted by #Albo on #gambling. If he goes ahead with threat to pull the bill altogether rather than accept any improvement, I will commit to putting Labor last (except for One Nation, who are even worse). Only symbolic since they are likely to finish behind Michael Berkman (Green) #auspol

  5. RE: mastodon.social/@graemeinnes/1

I have said it before and I will say it again … social services should never be run by ‘for profit’ organisations in Australia.

Perhaps people in Australia will look at the new British PM, Andy Burnham, and then look at #Albo and notice that Albo effectively does fuck all and only does change when he is forced to.

    #Auspol

  6. #Albo the least consequential PM since Billy McMahon, or maybe Frank Forde (McEwen was only in for a week, but he vetoed McMahon as Holt's successor, leading to Gorton's election). TBF, Morrison all negative, so Albo's zero an improvement #auspol

  7. Sad, but not in the least surprising. This is #Albo, after all. I asked at the time whether he would rise to the occasion, and noted "Betteridge’s Law of headlines says the answer to any headline question should be “No”

  8. @tallandtrue

ANY people discussing who is f*able is just lowest common denominator behaviour

a country’s leader, and in public? just poor judgment.

is #Albo trying to out-Morrison Scott Morrison? This “one of the common people” shtick is pathetic.

  9. CW: he’s been coddled and caressed by the alp since he was a teenager. he’s never had a non-alp job. not once, not ever.

    @NewtonMark

Not a fan of Albo, nor am I trying to pick a stoush.

But what you are saying is, he is uniquely qualified to be a POLITICAL leader with lifetime of experience.

As someone who dipped a toe into politics, what most folks think politics is and what it actually is, are two different things. Vast majority of folk who think "I would be a better leader" would be eaten alive by pyraniahs

#Albo is a figure head of a political moloch.
He doesn't have to be smart, just be a good cog.

  10. Budget follows a familiar pattern. Change is obviously necessary, Albanese campaigns on a promise not do it, wins and digs in even further, finally dragged back to reality. See Stage 3 tax cuts. Royal Commission on anti-semitism fits the pattern, without an election.. #auspol

Sometimes he holds on long enough, and the pressure goes away as putting unemployment benefits above poverty line. But broadly speaking, if it’s something a Labor government would do #Albo is against it.

  11. HEYHEYHEY It's FAAAT #Albo
And I ain't gonna do anything.
Mansion on the cliffs like I'm a King.
I'll have some fun now, livin' at your expense.
    Countin' all my dollars,
    While you're all scraping cents.

Naah Naah Naah Gonna do nothin'*

*Except fucking over the disabled, the unemployed, the non-propertied; real goddamn active on that.

  12. CW: #ausPol scatology sweariness #keating good times

"I am pleased to hear the president and the first lady, along with all attendees at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, are safe," Albanese said in a statement.

To misquote a far far better Labor PM:
#Australia; just shoelaces dangling out America's arsehole.

#Albo, you dummy, 85% of Australians hate #trump. Of those, few care how he leaves office. In a box? Yeah whatevs. Stick to your "not going to give a running commentary of the president" rather than race for the orange chocolate starfish.

  13. hear it from the horses mouth #albo :blobcatglare: #gasExportTax

"Former Treasury Ken Henry and architect of the ill-fated Resource Super Profits Tax said Australia could have collected "hundreds of billions of dollars of extra revenue" if our natural resources had been taxed appropriately."

  14. so that gas tax is voted off i read 👀 while at the same time we don't have enough money to pay for two showers a week for disabled folks 😬 well done #albo

  15. Multinational gas companies are making billions in profit from Australian resources and paying almost nothing back. Norway taxed their gas and built a sovereign wealth fund worth more than $3 trillion. We're getting ripped off. #auspol #albo www.ourgas.com.au

    The Great Gas Scam

  16. At the back of all this is the exclusion of dentistry from Medicare. Labor promised to fix this in 2019, but #Albo dumped the so he could deliver Scott Morrison's tax cuts. Instead, people are being encouraged to cash in their super to finance health care. #auspol

  17. 🧑‍🌾 Need an expert to talk to after #Albo's #fertiliser deal?

Chat to our #EXPERTSPOTLIGHT Dr Elizabeth Jackson from #CurtinUni

She's an expert in all things agri-food supply chains, livestock and farming and you can find her details here: scimex.org/experts?name=elizab

  18. If #Albo really wants a legacy, it won’t come from another landslide, it’ll come from finally making the gas giants pay their share. With energy prices soaring and foreign‑owned exporters paying next to nothing for Australian resources, a 25% gas export tax could fund childcare, dental care, and real cost‑of‑living relief. The move would expose the gap between Hanson’s rhetoric about ordinary Australians and her alignment with billionaire interests. This is Labor’s moment to show what democracy can deliver for people, not corporations.
