I even had her listed in the safety plan I referred to whenever my mental health was at its worst. Rest In Peace, old girl 🤍

Albino Bell’s false brook salamander (Isthmura bellii)
This false brook salamander is lacking its iconic dark black colour and fiery orange spots. This curiously pale albino salamander was found a few years ago by a local teacher on the pavement in Pinal de Amoles, in the WLT-funded Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve, #Mexico.
It's the first known record of #albinism in tropical #salamanders.

As a meerkat enthusiast who spent years dreaming of meeting her in-person before finally being able to last year, the news of her death was heartbreaking. A rare, all-white version of a well-known dumpster diver was recently found in Texas. An albino raccoon, which could easily be mistaken for a cat, was spotted rummaging through garbage inside an unnamed car dealership's dumpster in College Station. "You have better odds of being struck by lightning than seeing an albino raccoon."

Happy #World_Meerkat_Day! 😄 Back in late May, I was able to fulfill my 3-year-long dream to visit Snowy, the world's only #white_meerkat! Her pale complexion was caused by #vitiligo, the onset of which occurred when she was 2 years old. Apart from needing more sun protection and becoming less active in her old age, Snowy remains a healthy member and dominant of her group! 🤍
