alpena has a great used record store, noise & toys, and i usually come home with an inch or two of LPs, but not this year bc they’re in the middle of moving to a new space #alas
they don’t sort by categories, just alphabetically. i usually spend hours rummaging for vintage jazz among all the rest, picking up where i left off the following year.
i have found so many gems there
anyway here’s a b&w pic of the old store that i took, like, five years ago

oh hey i made a new mix for my ... uh ... subscribers (largely strangers who i suppose wonder why a cheap-ass tape player, a six-inch audio patch cable, and a crudely decorated cassette tape show up in their mailbox one day) i hope they like it

#alas i was disappointed to see portugal lose, they have some players i really love, the psg players naturally. nuno mendes shut down lamine yamal. he is one of the best backs in the world, and plays forward with skill and ease. vitinha and joao neves are complementary, and with fabian ruiz, who subbed in for spain, form the strongest midfield in club football. and gonçalo ramos, who should have come in for ronaldo today, is one of the top bench scorers in european football.

i'm finna sneak into the fourth of july parade in the a.m., which has become sort of an annual tradition
in recent years i've been forced to walk alone, as the local politicos found my sign (DOWN WITH CARS on one side, UPZONE EVERYTHING on the other) off-key
new sign this year: POWER TO THE PEOPLE on one side, HANDS OFF CUBA & IRAN on the other. i'm guessing i'll be marching alone again #alas

plans to travel light thwarted once again #alas
we have two carry-on bags, which was the plan
also a large bag that looks like a medicine bag, full of presents for the kids and grandkids, which we will leave in sweden
and a collapsible bag that we plan to ship home from paris with our winter clothes (and probably some gifts)
so by the time we are bouncing around italy, we should be down to those two carry-ons
plus a knapsack on each of our backs
yeah, that is not traveling light, is it?

@edwinkremer i was honestly shocked that my swedish daughter and her husband, both classical musicians in stockholm, could afford to buy a car. (a pretty nice electric hyundai)
i drive a 15-year old lexus hybrid that i bought used for about $20K when it was three years old. i hope it lasts forever, although i wish i had adaptive cruise control #alas
it gets ok mileage, but i hardly drive anywehere, usually i take a bus. i spend way more for parking than for gas. like five times more.

four weeks out. i finally got around to booking train tix from lecce stazione to roma termini, and reserving a rental car (stick shift!) for nine days of bouncing around puglia. housing for four nights in puglia is left open, to figure out when we get there.
i'm so glad i didn't book those full-flat turkish air tix out of DTW (although a recent mal au dos flareup is making me dread the overnight flight to LHR ... in a chair. ugh. and i'm about a half million miles short of an ugrade #alas)

Y lo peor, he creado un script que lo ejecuta sólo cuando inicio sesión en #lxqt, y ya no necesito ejecutar el comando 😅
