  1. Depeche Mode, Construction Time Again, 1983 on Sire / Mute / Reprise

This was the third full length from Depeche Mode, originally released in 1983 on Mute, distributed in the US by Sire. Alan Wilder had joined and wrote two of the songs on the album. (Vince Clarke had departed after the debut album). One of my favorites, including "Love, In Itself," "More Than a Party" and "Everything Counts" just on the A-side. My copy—via Beverly Coin & Jewelry—is a 2014 reissue by Rhino & Reprise pressed at Rainbo - but it sounds great. (Same mastering as the 2007 […]

  3. Released today 34 years ago:

    🇬🇧 Recoil "Bloodline" – 1992

A dark and intricate electronic album where atmosphere and collaboration take center stage. Ex-Depeche Mode Alan Wilder curates a range of guest vocalists, each bringing a distinct tone that shifts the emotional landscape from track to track.

  5. 🖤 Recoil — Unsound Methods (1997)

Alan Wilder’s first full post-Depeche Mode work. Dark, cinematic electronica built from fragmented voices, tension, and atmosphere — closer to an audio film than a traditional album. With Douglas McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb) and Maggie Estep, it feels cold, immersive, and deliberately unsettling.

  6. Depeche Mode, Black Celebration, 1986 on Mute/Sire

Fifth studio LP from Depeche Mode, released by Mute in the UK and Sire in the US, and recorded in Berlin and London. One of my favorite Depeche Mode albums of all time, starting with “Black Celebration” all the way through “But Not Tonight.”

Core Depeche Mode lineup of Alan Wilder, Andrew Fletcher, David Gahan, and Martin Gore, working with Gareth Jones and Daniel Miller.

My copy—via Crossroads Records in Portland OR—is an Allied Pressing with the embossed cover, with Site and TM under the label logo.

  10. And also last year for #Shfl was an overall guide to #DepecheMode as it stood then, thought now slightly updated thanks to #MementoMori -- it was also a chance to celebrate more of the solo work and collaborations, including those by #AlanWilder #music theshfl.com/guide/depeche-mode

  11. Alan Wilder explains how an Emulator 2 works. Oh the 80's and their huge discs! 360k (I think?) data, and Christmas Island sounds.
