I just happened to find this drawing by Alan Kay from the early seventies. His Dynabook is the blueprint of the laptop. Strange that he still saw the field of action and the field of perception separately. Good question @Shamar I don't see how either. I can imagine a network of communicating objects, and you can do a lot with that. But perhaps we're only seeing interfaces, not mechanism?
