Set largely in a cyberpunk Kansai, six super criminals who are known only as Brawler, Courier, Cutthroat, Doctor, Hacker, and Hoodlum are recruited for an impossible heist by a talking black cat.
Along with these Akudama is an Ordinary Person whose sense of kindness sees her accidentally roped up in the cat's dangerous plot. In a desperate attempt to survive, she passes herself off as a new, previously unheard of Akudama named Swindler...

Jumping all the way to 2020, Sakurai voiced a cutthroat named... Cutthroat in #AkudamaDrive. A killer with hundreds of bodies to his name, Cutthroat was the wild card of the group, his obsession with red and Swindler contrasting with his flighty nature and need to bleed everything he loves. Sakurai's younger-sounding, almost pleading performance makes Cutthroat's actions all the more disturbing.

Recently, I've been able to finish two #anime: #AkudamaDrive and #dantaliannoshoka - different in their tones and approach to character, but both equally immersive in creating their worlds and narratives.
