  1. NVIDIA's #OpenSecureAI Alliance Launches With 35+ Members and Three Notable Absences
The membership is notable as much for who is absent as who signed on: Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, Palantir, Dell Technologies, and HPE are in, while OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, the three labs most identified with frontier closed models, are not
The alliance is being established with support from the #LinuxFoundation’s #Akrites initiative and the Open Source Security Foundation, or #OpenSSF

  2. Akrites is the open-source community’s new line of defense against AI-driven attacks. Stronger supply chain security can’t come soon enough. jpmellojr.blogspot.com/2026/07 #AI #Akrites #OpenSource #SupplyChainSecurity #AIsecurity

  4. #Akrites Puts Up a United Front Against AI-Wielding Black Hats
Quickness with which black hats armed with AI can find and exploit #vulnerabilities is changing the playing field. We saw this in action last month, AI surfaced 3 linux vulnerabilities in a week
Organizations that develop, use, and secure open source have come together under #LinuxFoundation’s umbrella to launch Akrites, which is vowing to defend critical #opensource software against #AI-enabled cyber threats.

  7. I appreciate what the LF and their member companies are doing with akrites.org, but I really wish there was more attention given to what I call "small open source", all the single maintainer projects that don't reach the "critical" threshold to receive support, but collectively support the entire software ecosystem.
