Friends are shocked at the no. of data centres already in place & proposed. They say there’s been no discussion & it’s hard to get even basic information… The social license for these things is very thin. In popular culture the outcomes they enable are universally negative (eg 2 current programs: The Capture (ABC) - on the misapplication of surveillance, & Vigil (SBS) on the use of AI targeting & kill programs & mistakes). Less secrecy & more open dialogue might help.
