The Fine Line Between AI and Creativity
As a person who worked in corporations for over 25 years and who now uses AI to help create music out of lyrics I've written, some thoughts on AI usage have popped up for me. Thoughts about where we accept the use of AI and how that relates to whether we think the work is "creative" or not. It seems we tend to accept benchmarking in corporate life without much thought, yet AI use in creative work can be highly scrutinized. In business, we routinely look outward to improve inward. We study […]https://hg-people.com/2026/04/21/the-fine-line-between-ai-and-creativity/

Let's be clear: agentic AI is not a magic intern quietly cleaning up your codebase; it is more like a new hire with root access and no employee handbook. If your IT strategy does not start with trust, guardrails, and clear accountability, agentic tools will amplify risk faster than they amplify productivity.
Recently, I was on the #AITalk Podcast with Business Reporter, discussing this very topic with host Kevin Craine, Bryan Finster, Principal Engineer, and Derek Ashmore, AI Enablement Principal at Asperitas Consulting.
The interesting shift is that developers move from typing code to defining outcomes and specifications, but that only works if your governance and delivery pipelines are equally modern. Quality has to move left into the model and workflow design, with automated tests, static and dynamic analysis catching what human reviewers and traditional QA would miss. The smartest early use cases are low-risk and high-leverage, such as agents that keep documentation up to date while critical changes in production still go through human review. And instead of waiting for regulators, pay attention to defect patterns, customer security questionnaires, and real-world incident news to decide where your own red lines should be.
TL;DR
🧠 Start with trust, guardrails, and accountability
⚡ Keep humans in the loop for critical changes and production code
🎓 Shift quality left with tests, plus static and dynamic analysis
🔍 Use low-risk agents first, like documentation and onboarding, and build your own controls before regulation arrives#AgenticAI #SoftwareEngineering #DevOps #ITStrategy #security #privacy #cloud #infosec #cybersecurity

I keep hearing people say “Agentic AI just writes code faster.”It’s way bigger than that.
Agentic AI is reshaping how software is architected, governed, and secured. We’re not just accelerating development—we’re changing who (or what) makes decisions in our systems.
That shift requires new thinking at the leadership level:
🔍 How do we manage AI agents that act autonomously?
🚦 What does governance mean when software writes and deploys itself?
🛡️ How do we protect our organizations when humans aren’t in every loop?
🚀 And how do we use it—responsibly—to multiply human capability rather than replace it?I’m joining Kevin Craine and fellow leaders for a rich conversation on #AITalk about the real risks, real opportunities, and what IT leadership looks like in the agentic era.
I’d love to hear your take afterward—
