Long shot, I know, but do any of my peeps have a spare private jet laying around? My Air Transat flight from Manchester to Toronto has been delayed by a day and a half (so far). I keep rescheduling the connecting trains and hotels, but it’s getting a little old.

Canadians continue to talk with their wallets.

Air Transat are ending all of their flights to US destinations - the last one to Puerto Rico (which you might argue should be immune, as the territory is treated so badly by US Administration) very soon.
Similarly, Westjet is whittling down destinations (to 10), and with fewer flights.
Canadians discovering attractive holiday / conference destinations not in country run by the aggressively unpleasant.

The law states that airlines with a base in the UK must pay this compensation.

#AirTransat says they don’t have a base in the UK; they only have a call centre and some employees and ticket agents and an office. No base.

Also, their lawyers have advised that the law applies only to airlines licensed to operate in the UK.
