I felt like the humidifier on my furnace wasnt working properly, so I did some research, bought a maintenance kit, and tried fixing it up tonight.

Thanks to #homeassistant and #airgradient I have some nice data to confirm I've made things considersbky better!

I’m trying to make a mobile #AirQuality monitor. I’m going to make my #RaspberryPi a hotspot and connect my #AirGradient monitor. Thoughts on if I should just use #prometheus to collect the data or write my own #Python? I’ll post-process the AQ and #GPS data later in #R.

The latest release of the #AirGradient firmware removed the code that phones home to the company servers even when you check the to to explicitly tell it not to do so. This is a big win for #privacy and #SelfHosting!

This doesn't have anything to do with the #HestiaPi (yet 😉), but AirGradient is one step closer to fixing their compilation instructions.

This is exciting news because once their code is modified to stop phoning home to the company's server, I plan on adding documentation to the HestiaPi project on how to configure the #AirGradient ONE to act as a remote temperature and humidity sensor.

If you've ever had a #thermostat mounted too close to the door, you understand why this is important.

With the #AirGradient air quality monitor in my hands for several days, I've finally fine-tuned the monitoring in #HomeAssistant. I've basically recreated what AirGradient has in its cloud dashboard.
And yes, the air quality here sucks today.

Today I tried to help move the #Proxmox provider for #terraform a little closer to a stable release. It wasn't much, but I think it helped.

I also am trying to help get instructions to compile the #AirGradient One #firmware from source. If I can get people to reproduce the behavior I'm seeing, I am hopeful that we can get this nailed down. I'm keen on getting familiar with this because it is #ESP32 based, and we want to make an ESP32 based model of #HestiaPi

My #HestiaPi adventures got me interested in #ESP32 #microcontrollers and now I'm going to become a firmware developer for the #AirGradient ONE.

This is why I don't have any free time. As soon as I get 3-4 hours to myself, I find a new #OpenSource project to contribute to.

okay ... the inconsistency between data in the #NetAtmo via App, local via #Homekit or via API/Cloud drives me mad, so i have returned my #NetatmoWeatherStation back for refund and now again in search for co2, pm2, pressure, temp etc sensor that are local accessible via #homeassistant and dont cost a fortune like the #AirGradient stuff, anyone? #fedihelp

I begrudgingly rescind my recommendation of #AirGradient. It's not ready for primetime[1]. Maybe in 6 months or a year it will be, or maybe not.

Shout out to the 6 other #AirGradient OpenAir #AirQuality sensors in the SF Bay Area! I've had their indoor CO2 air quality sensor kits for a while now and am loving these sensors and project. All of their fantastic sensor nodes are open hardware, come either assembled or as an easy kit, and work with homeassistant via esphome. Similar hardware as PurpleAir, but with a properly molded case and 1/3rd the cost. Excited to see their network grow near me.

I have now contacted #AirGradient about being a contributor to their #OpenAir software/firmware.

If they are willing to send me the hardware, I'm willing to maintain the software and develop additional features.

When I had a day job, I had the money to buy things like this, but not the time to contribute. Now that is reversed.

Companies can't help me with freeing up my time, but they can help with covering the cost of the hardware, so hopefully my situation this will work out better now.
