  1. Well... there's still no ground at the #19 wire, just 11.4v positive. Why would a working ECU that's supposed to put out 12v ground on the fuel pump relay #85 be putting out positive. It should never put out positive. Is there a short in one of the other 30 or so wires!?

See here's my perfectionism getting the better of me again; I want the ECU's fuel pump relay circuit to work, but I could easily just ground the #19 wire and it would run the pump as long as the key is on. In fact, the previous owner just bypassed the relay entirely with a wire directly to the fuel pump.

    Battery is at 12v, and I'm supposed to get ground from the #19 wire from the ECU but I'm getting 11.2v which I see at the relay as well.

    Either this ECU has the same problem, or the issue is somewhere else.

    I don't know what to check next; maybe check for a short in the ECU harness?

  4. I'm getting 8v positive at this wire with the key on and the ECU connected, which is probably a bad sign. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

    The shop manual says the ECU should be sending ground.

    Either the ECU is fried or there's a short somewhere in the wiring harness.

  5. I've got to get out there and finish installing the fuel pump relay on my #VW #type3 ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

    I just have no idea what to make of this mess of old fucked up wiring, and a mental block about #electrical in general.

    I think this is the "Voltage Supply Relay" so one of the wires that runs off of it will go up front to the fuel pump relay. Then I just have to figure out which wire runs to the ECU.

    I think I need an induction loop meter...

  6. I got my new fuel pump relay for my #vw #squareback, now I just have to find the wires that some monkey cut off to bypass the old one. The diagram shows wires running to the pump, ECU, voltage regulator, and auxiliary air valve. I *think* I know where all those are, and I have a test light so I can tell if they have voltage.

  7. What's this? The #fuelpump relay? Some fucking monkey decided to wire the fuel pump directly to the ignition switch. So as long as the key is turned it'll squirt #gasoline. This #car is a bomb! How did anyone survive the 1970s? #volkswagen #vw #aircooledvw #type3 #fuelInjection
