  9. Picked up a new airbrush today, since I’ve forgotten everything I used to know. Something a little less fine detail, more general use, for practice.

  14. Airbrushing a freehand-camouflage out of my own head left me with a couple of things to fix on the Hummel. This is why I like masking, less space for those 😋

When the greens and browns were done, I diluted some gunmetal and went to town with the roadwheel-polished parts of the tracks. The running ones will be muddy-dirtier while the short track armour will be mostly fresh rusty.

  37. Last Sunday I got to do some #airbrushing on my #PanzerIV and I primed the tank itself red and the Panzerwerk tracks black.

This one photo shows the customized steel texture effect I attempted for the first time, using uncle NightShift's methods. Unpainted it looked foul but after priming... Much, much better! #ScaleModeling

  39. #Airbrush adventures: after getting some advice on why I can't draw lines at all, the nozzle is now sitting in a bath of airbrush cleaner.

And I guess I have to order some beeswax chapstick to replace the o-ring inside the nozzle that self destructed.#airbrushing #scalemodelling

  41. Time hasn't been easy to find this Autumn, and I failed to thin the Zvezda paints well to get them through my airbrush. Brushpainting them also wasn't too nice.

So I reverted to my trusty VMA 71017 Russian Green 4BO and covered the tank. Tracks and the rollers got a VMA 71056 German Grey treatment, which I also painted manually on plain metallic surfaces (cables, tools, etc) for the steel look.

Progress, at long last, is nice 😅

  45. CW: CW: Scale Model Bugs and Stuff ...

Work continues on finishing Orlok from #Nosferatu

Everything has been painted and sealed. I like to use #Vallejo Mecha Varnishes for these steps.

Final touches, finishes and assembly hopefully sometime tomorrow. Then completed pictures.

    Thank for looking.

  48. “Everything Changes, But Nothing Is Truly Lost.”, Dream, Sandman

Always loved me some Sandman and I think Netflix did/is doing them justice. So it was another fun project that took me a bit too much time to orbit around but here we are. I wanted it to stay a bit weathered, ephemeral. Lots of airbrushing and rub-and-buff. Satin & gloss varnishes.

Project I had in parts for a while but tied it together recently. More comfort levels with the tools.

  52. Continuing to refine the standing #hobby workstation I'm putting together in my shop. Latest addition is the little red docking shelf that I've put on casters. A wire-pull handle on the side can be used to move it separately, but "dock" it to the two gate latches on the side, and you can pull both pieces along easily using a handle on the station's right side. Small bench-top #PowerTools store underneath, mounted on their own bases for easy moving and placement.
I'm 6 foot 6 inches tall and have occasional back problems, so a very tall worksurface is great for me, saving both my eyes and my back. I plan to use this for things like airbrushing, rotary tool use, model-building, soldering, use of small bench tools, etc.
I found the black unit at the heart of this in a thrift store. It seems to be some sort of portable lectern or standing computer station (there's a pull-out shelf apparently for a keyboard). The sides and base are steel, with particle-board top and shelves. I previously used this as a standing computer desk, with the keyboard and mouse on top (like I said, I'm tall, and also left-handed) and added a little wing shelf on the left to give me more room for a mouse. When I moved it to the shop, I added a heavy power strip with a long cord and hooks for tools and safety equipment. Storage boxes for small tools and accessories went on the keyboard pullout.
I have a small shop with a lot of stuff in it, and so I'm trying to cram as much versatility and functionality into it as I can, while keeping it easy to move. (For flexibility, I try to put EVERYTHING in my shop on castors whenever possible.)
Extensive captions on the photos, so for everyone, not just the visually impaired this time.
