Er sagt, die Nützlichkeit von KI war vor einem Jahr noch umstritten, aber nicht mehr, und dass die Skeptiker die Tools einfach nicht genutzt haben. Niemand wird gezwungen, KI zu nutzen, aber er wird jeden ignorieren, der versucht, andere von der Nutzung abzuhalten. Jeder, der ein anti-AI-Projekt will, sagt er, kann den Code forken oder gehen. Im Jahr 2024 hatte Torvalds KI als größtenteils Marketing abgetan. Bis Januar dieses Jahres lieferte er KI-generierten Python-Code in seinem eigenen Hobby-Repo aus, und der Kernel akzeptiert nun KI-geschriebenen Code unter Offenlegungsregeln.
