  1. #Teenage #boys are using #Meta’s #AIGlasses to #harass and #bully #girls at #highschools and #middleschools. The videos, often shared on TikTok and Instagram, show the boys filming their peers without consent, engaging in behaviour ranging from asking for personal information to outright harassment. This raises concerns about privacy, consent, and the potential legal implications of using smart glasses in schools. futurism.com/artificial-intell #tech #news #ainews

  2. An advertisement feature on the Independent newspaper website and app - 10 ways to use Meta's smart glasses while sightseeing (although it actually means whilst on holiday).

It doesn't mention "hanging around in the mens toilets" or "capturing fond memories on the naturist beach".

#AIGlasses should be banned. It's as simple as that.

  3. Instagram is introducing new measures to restrict voyeuristic POV videos recorded using Meta's AI-powered smart glasses. The move reflects growing concerns over privacy as always-on wearable cameras become more capable and widespread.

  4. #Meta executives initially denied the existence of a #facialrecognition feature, #NameTag, in their #AIGlasses. However, CTO Andrew Bosworth later described the feature in detail, contradicting previous statements. The feature, which would be encrypted and localised to the user’s device, aims to help users remember people they’ve met, addressing the “cocktail party problem.“ futurism.com/artificial-intell #Metaverse #VirtualWorlds #XR #VR #MR #AR #BeyondPictures

  5. The trick Meta doesn’t want you to know about...

If you have a pair of Meta AI glasses, pop them in the microwave for five minutes on full power and you’ll significantly boost the camera’s resolution.

The explanation is simple: the radiation emitted by your microwave splits the pixels on the camera sensor, allowing them to split 2, 3, up to 4 times.

This is what manufacturers do to create models with different resolutions (and prices!) but with identical hardware.

  7. And you can't constantly avoid it. I've already noticed several times - too late - that someone sitting close to me has the AI glasses on.

I changed the frame of my glasses that I had for a decade (used to love them) because they look too much like Meta's AI Glasses (thick black frame). Don't want anyone to think I'm wearing one of those.

    Why this matters:

"#Meta and #RayBan’s new #AIglasses can be used to secretly record women and young people for sexual reasons,” the #EHE spokesperson continued in their statement to #Hyperallergic. “Simply put, that’s abuse.” The chasm between legality and ethics continues to widen as the use of smart glasses poses additional risks at sites of expected privacy, including hospitals, restrooms,...

  10. »#PervertGlasses« #Meta’s #AIglasses are facing #backlash due to misuse by influencers for #nonconsensualrecordings and #privacy concerns. The negative perception has led some owners to avoid wearing the glasses in public, fearing judgement and potential harassment. Despite the controversy, Meta continues to promote the glasses, believing they will eventually replace smartphones. futurism.com/future-society/ba #ARglasses #SmartGlasses #AugmentedReality #AR
