Kamiwaza has an interesting Enterprise Edition with “outcome-based support", meaning that a customer can submit a support request for a business outcome and they will help the company achieve this goal, not just set up AI... #AIFD6

🧵No surprise, AI is in the news - again. And the timing is impeccable as I'm currently at AI Field Day 6 #AIFD6 and the topic of the day is optimization. LLMs seem to keep GPUs busy -- only 30% of the time. 70% of the time those very expensive GPUs are idling.

This 15% utilization was brought up at #AIFD6 by #MemVerge and I was skeptical. My first guess was “we bought these GPUs but don’t actually have anything to run on them” but it’s really “we have no idea how to build parallel workloads”!

This data from weightsandbiases really makes me want to cry. 1/3 of enterprise GPU compute resources are utilized less than 15% of the time. Mostly because engineers just can't figure out how to efficiently run across many GPUs.#MemVerge brought this up during #AIFD6

MLPerf Storage has been embraced by the industry with lots of familiar faces submitting v1.0 results! #AIFD6

MLPerf Storage tries to simulate training runs but doesn't actually require GPU resources. It’s all about the IO pattern. It simulates standard and familiar workloads. #AIFD6

Now we're diving into the new MLPerf Storage benchmark at #AIFD6. ML Training is a completely different workload from conventional enterprise AI apps - IOPS have doubled, access patterns are randomized, and scale-out client access is massive!

We got a quick overview of MLPerf Client benchmarks from MLCommons at #AIFD6 just now. It's critical to have representative benchmarks now that companies are pushing AI PCs so hard!
