#AIDSLifeCycle Closing Thoughts
For 12 years, I have given my mind, heart, body, and soul to AIDSLifeCycle. What can I say other than, "THANK YOU."
Thank you to the hard-working ALC staff, including the amazing cyclist representatives who have assisted me over the year.
Thank you to all the training ride leaders who taught me how to ride a road bike, and designed and facilitated training rides.

#AIDSLifeCycle 2025
On the morning of the final day, the Chicken Lady left an egg on every rider’s bicycle seat containing a Lifesaver and a message regarding the ride.
“Don’t be sad that it’s over. Smile that we made it happen. Keep the spirit of the ‘Love Bubble’ Alive. 1994-2025. -
The amazing Bob Katz and I have been friends for thirty years. We have also been #AIDSLifeCycle tentmates over multiple years. I am so grateful to have shared this experience with such a good friend.

#AIDSLifeCycle 2025 - my tenth and the final ride is complete.
I have so many things that I am feeling right now, but all I can say is “thank you”.

Rider 1371
Rick is the bike sweep. His bike has two rider numbers, his own and #1371, a number that was retired for Edna Flores-Lagunte, the beloved late Training Ride Leader who passed away on the ride in 2014. Edna will ride in with him as the last rider in the final AIDSLifeCycle. -

Jack Creek Farms Petting Zoo is a must see.
All Creatures Great and Small are loved on the ride.

This is astonishing. Today #AIDSLifeCycle participants fundraised $119,862 for the extracurricular activities of this generous rural smalltown school.
I think that is beautiful. Urban or rural, we are all the same.

Every year sports medicine professionals generously come to volunteer and donate their expertise to help #AIDSLifeCycle participants through this epic ride. Thank God for them. At this point,I should just come to the ride with my knees pre-taped. 😆

Mile 191 of 560
If I am looking tired and droopy, it is because I just rode 109 miles on a bicycle, and am now getting some sports medicine care in the Chiropractic tent . -
Day 2 of #AIDSLifeCycle in 109 miles and it takes us through agricultural area. See how hard people are laboring in the sub is very humbling. As we say grace at meals, let us not only give thanks having food, but also the hardworking people who grow, pick, harvest, and distribute our food to us too

On the eve of #aidslifecycle here is another reason #whyiride
Here in 1996 at the Sweet Inspiration Cafe my friend Keith said to me, "Dan, you are not going to believe It, but I am on a new experimental medication, and get this, I have NO viral load." There is still an imprint on the floor from my jaw. The protease inhibitors were a new hope and a game changer. Today we have new tools like PrEP, PEP, TAP, and U=U, which have all been game changers. #HIV #AIDS -
On the eve of #aidslifecycle I like to remember #whyIride
In 1995, I stopped in at the Castro Country Club for coffee. Everyone here was friendly, and I struck up a conversation with a man named Tom. He disclosed to me that he was 50 years old and once had a group of ten friends that he thought he was going to grow old with He was the only one left. The others had all died of AIDS. It was then that I really understood and got the vast scale and relentless cruelty of this horrible disease. -
On today’s #AIDSLifeCycle training ride, they said that getting to the summit of the five mile climb up Mandeville Canyon only counts if you touch the green gate at the top. #EndAIDS #Cycling
-
It never rains on Day 3 of AIDS/LifeCycle, which usually turns out to be the scorching day on the ride. God bless every one of these heroes and sheroes cycling and crewing in the rain. I am so moved that I signed up to ride in my 9th AIDS/LifeCycle. #AIDSLifeCycle #EndAIDS
Ride safe, be safe! ❤️
