Turns out, AI is horrible also at detecting AI. And this is once again an AI "solution" that creates much more damage than benefits. Please stop this nonsense.

Slop detector!
Repo-slopscore goes through the entire commit history of a repository (upper limit is 5000 commits currently,) and detects visible signs of AI/LLM tool usage in the commit history and the source tree. The tool uses partial cloning to reduce data usage (and potentially forge server load) by skipping blobs/blob contents entirely.

The tools file covers a good amount of known (to me, at least) AI agents, and is made even more accurate by broad-spectrum filtering for phrases such as "generated with/by/using", which are telltale signs of LLM activity.

No se porqué no puedo evitar meter el pie en todos los charcos que veo pero allá voy de nuevo. A vueltas con la polémica que está creciendo cada vez más en internet (aumentada por el reciente lanzamiento de la herramienta "claude design") contra el "AI slop", el contenido generado con IA, monotónico, fácilmente reconocible y terriblemente aburrido.
El rechazo a páginas web y presentaciones creadas con estas herramientas de "diseño" o #Slopdesign está siendo un fenómeno digno de estudio. La gente con experiencia en diseño asistido por computadora y diseño web no tiene absolutamente ningún problema para identificar este contenido generado por IA con un 100% de acierto aunque no haya ningún error evidente en él.
Por otra parte gente que defiende la creación artística humana está promoviendo el uso de herramientas automáticas para identificar contenido generado por IA. Hay una contradicción especialmente sangrante en esto.
Estas herramientas que supuestamente detectan "AI slop" son redes neuronales entrenadas para reconocer patrones, es decir, son IA. Como herramientas de IA que son fallan más que escopeta de feria y no solo no detectan cualquier slop que se salga de los patrones de su entrenamiento sino que detectan como IA contenido generado por personas. Ambos tipos de errores están provocando situaciones tremendamente injustas y delirantes como es fácil de imaginar
Así que tenemos a "influencers" en mastodon que defienden la ética del arte humano que están recomendando usar herramientas de IA que se equivocan y perjudican a personas. Lo peor es que cuando se lo intentas decir con el máximo tacto posible te identifican como enemiga y te bloquean. Ya no me decepciona ni me sorprende cuando una nazi me bloquea pero si me deprime cuando lo hace alguien que supuestamente esta del mismo lado de la trinchera que yo. Ale, ese era mi lloro.

What are we meant to think? This can happen in many papers. The likelihood of them all being #genAI written is low (at this point). But this is what comes out of the detection bots. Quillbot is just one detector and seems a choice people would use.

This means non-native English speakers tend to write more simply in English. So does ChatGPT. In fact, it mimics human writing by parsing everything it has ever processed and crafting sentences using the most common words and phrases. Even if AI detectors aren’t specifically trained to flag less complex writing, the tools learn to do so by seeing over and over that AI-generated writing is less complex.
Weixin Liang, one of the authors of the Stanford study, learned Cantonese and Mandarin before English. He was skeptical about claims of near-perfect accuracy with AI detectors and wanted to look more closely at how they worked for students with linguistic backgrounds like his.
“The design of many GPT detectors inherently discriminates against non-native authors, particularly those exhibiting restricted linguistic diversity and word choice,” Liang said via email."

Not surprisingly, we see more and more #AIgenerated images been shared, like of amazing garments, architecture or natural world phenomena.
A quick look at the comments shows most people do not realise that, even though the pictures can be very pretty, they are not representations of reality.
As in the post about "the photograph shows 'ice flowers' on the Songhua river in northeast China" ❌️
