I seem to have stumbled upon a series of AI-generated Canto-pop music on Qobuz and YouTube under the label 艾思樂 (ngaai6 si1 lok6, or ài sī lè in Mandarin). I’m not sure what the phrase means other than it’s based on the name of the medication Estazolam, an anti-insomnia medication.
These songs have characteristic crappy #AI artifacts and terrible music quality, but they get popular by naming their songs the same as popular jazz or pop music songs so they show up in searches.

AI is flooding the online book market with poor translations – here’s how to spot them

It's even worth. The negative impact are hard to imagine. A very strong opposition to AI is now vital.

A useful sticker to put on #AI images.
The image is transparent! On some devices, you can “lift” the sign and save it as a sticker.

Yes. 22nd of January 2026 is in the future - if you are a LLM from 2025

There is someone who has taken a lot of old films and used AI to colorize them badly and "boosted" the frame rate from 24 to 60fps and then uploaded this trash to the Internet Archive.
I hate this. Films shot in b&w have an aesthetic that is destroyed by colorizing them. Video games might look better with more frames per second but movies don't. We didn't accidentally settle on 24fps, it was trial and error. A film shot in 60fps looks bad. A movie that has been artificially "boosted" to 60fps is an abomination and should be destroyed.

@proton_xor Hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣 It would be sooooo funny as a sketch parody sitcom show… A terminally depressed pre-apocalyptic sysadmin… living in a Trump-era world… tries to simply avoid #AICrap but gets nonstop bothered until… real AI shows up xD hahah.

The headline says the number of people using "AI" at work is "suddenly" falling, but the article content makes it clear: this has been going on since February. It should really say: "'AI' use at workplaces shows steady decline over past 10 months".
I guess people are figuring out it's so janky and error-prone, it's simpler to just do the work themselves.

It's kind of easy to see how broken and morally bankrupt the #MusicStreaming business model by #Spotify and Co is if you consider that none of the major streaming services simply bans #AI generated #music. They just want to keep you streaming. They don't give a flying fuck about art, artists and music.

In so many ways, I hope we fcking implode and just all shuffle off this mortal coil. I just...that's my hope. Really, it is.

Judging by the ads for so-called AI glasses the glasses are not AI at all, just a gimmick to deliver #AIcrap.
What would real AI glasses do. Use sensors to keep your prescription up to date and as your eyes changed, and a sensor to determine what you are looking at to provide clear focus on that, and of course adjust for lighting conditions and provide UV filtering. etc.
But that would require developing real technology which the tech bros abandoned years ago.

You've all seen the amazing Dame Emma Thompson talking about #AI in #MSWord, right? https://bsky.app/profile/noethematt.bsky.social/post/3m4aqwrmqtk2r
So right now, there's a Product Manager at #Microsoft who's watching that incredibly vivid user feedback on how frustrated a standard user is by one of their flagship products, to say nothing of the *thunderous* applause by the entire audience.
And that Product Manager is thinking…
"Is there any way I can suppress that video? Can I just get it yanked off the internet?"

Highly disapointed by @jetbrains who adopt an Opt-out model for data sharing.
I’m pretty sure one day a “bug” will re-enable the option, someone will forget to turn back the option because it’s a new setup.
Consent is to have the agreement a no become a yes. Not the opposite.

18 Lawyers Caught Using "AI" Explain Why They Did It: https://www.404media.co/18-lawyers-caught-using-ai-explain-why-they-did-it/
(I've added the scare quotes around "AI".)
Their excuses range from kind of understandable (recent death of a spouse, if you read the whole paragraph) to a variety of things that feel like "let me throw a bunch of excuses at the court and see if they buy any of them". And then there's the bizarre "legal experiment" one... WTF?
