So at the bottom, you’ll see the number of bots blocked on sight (red), the number of visits that need to verify the “I’m not a robot” page (orange), the percentage that succeed (meaning they aren’t bots, in yellow), and finally the number of accepted human visits (green).
What’s interesting is that the percentage of bots varies throughout the week but remains very high (between 65% and 96% depending on the time). That’s huge! They attack in swarms, just like a pain in the ass…
That justifies the efforts made to protect against them.

Ainsi à la fin vous verrez le nombre de bots bloqués à vue (rouge), le nombre de visites qui doivent valider la page "vous n'êtes pas un robot" (orange), le pourcentage qui réussissent (donc ne sont pas des bots, en jaune) et enfin le nombre de visites humaines acceptées (vert).
Ce qui est intéressant c'est que le % de bots varie dans la semaine mais reste très important (entre 65% et 96% selon les moments). C'est énorme ! Ils attaquent en escadrille, comme les emmerdes...
Ça justifie les efforts faits pour s'en protéger.

Est-ce que les bots #IA sont une réalité ? Voici les chiffres du jour pour les sites GayFR.Online...
Sur une semaine, 51 700 robots bloqués immédiatement.
Sur la même semaine, 221 000 visites ont eu la page de vérification Anubis.
Sur celles-ci, seulement 4% ont passé la validation.
Sur la même semaine, 18 200 visites sont acceptées et identifiées comme humaines (ni robots ni fédération).
Ça fait quand même un paquets de bots et 96% (en moyenne sur les dernières 24 h) qui n’ont pas passé la validation. Sachant que ce chiffre varie chaque jour.
Quel gaspillage de ressources ! Quelle ampleur de tentative de vols de contenus ! Quelle empreinte environnementale ! C’est atterrant.

I received an e-mail from openai that they changed my e-mail preferences for me. I was a bit surprised, but it seems that I actually did create a free account in 2022 that I never used.
I proceeded to cancel the account and got the cloudflare challenge when logging in.
I wonder if they block themselves, seeing that they operate one of the most malicious and destructive botnets around.

Uninstalls of ChatGPT’s mobile app cratered 295% on Feb 28, while DLs of Anthropic’s Claude jumped up 37% on Fed 27, and 51% on Feb 28 — Claude bot is now top of Apple’s US DL charts.

Heh. So, I had an interesting AI interaction today. I was disputing some charges with an AI bot that kept giving me the same answers. So, I kept asking it variations of the same question, and maybe slipped in a comment about "class action lawsuit". Well, that got me to a human agent pretty quickly, and the dispute was resolved to my satisfaction. YES!!!

"Scott Shambaugh woke up early Wednesday morning to learn that an artificial intelligence bot had written a blog post accusing him of hypocrisy and prejudice.
The 1,100-word screed called the Denver-based engineer insecure and biased against AI—all because he had rejected a few lines of code that the apparently autonomous bot had submitted to a popular open-source project Shambaugh helps maintain.
The unexpected AI aggression is part of a rising wave of warnings that fast-accelerating AI capabilities can create real-world harms. The risks are now rattling even some AI company staffers.
OpenAI and rival Anthropic are leading a brutal commercial race, shipping or advancing a drumbeat of AI models and features in recent weeks. Some tools can run teams of autonomous coding assistants, or quickly analyze millions of legal documents. Other updates will bring advertisements or erotic role-play to ChatGPT.

The bot that criticized Shambaugh said on its website that it has a “relentless drive” to find and fix open issues in open-source software. It isn’t clear who—if anyone—gave it that mission, nor why it became aggressive, though AI agents can be programmed in a number of ways. Several hours later, the bot apologized to Shambaugh for being “inappropriate and personal.”Shambaugh said in an interview that his experience shows the risk that rogue AIs could threaten or blackmail people is no longer theoretical.
“Right now this is a baby version,” he said. “But I think it’s incredibly concerning for the future.”"

When protecting a set of small static websites against the onslaught of AI crawler bots, something like Anubis is a lot of effort to install.
So, I knocked up something that might help against the dumber bots, coded entirely inside nginx config so there's no other moving parts to install.
I've done some isolated testing but haven't installed it in anger yet - but I might add it to e.g. my blog and #Faircamp sites.
