Just after liftoff both fuel cutoff switches were set in the off position within 1 second of each other.

In the cockpit voice recording, one of the pilots is heard asking the other why did he cutoff. The other pilot responded that he did not do so.

Another Air India #AI171 update: "On Jul 8th 2025 the AAIB indicated they have submitted their preliminary report to India's DGCA and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The report itself has not yet been published."

So I guess we will soon get some real information to hopefully end the rumours and speculation.

Update on Air India #AI171 crash: Both black boxes have been read out, the data is being analysed and a preliminary report is to be expected in three months. Until that report is released, the speculations and conspiracy theories will continue, unfortunately.
