Just finished #AHighlandSong (one loop) and it's a beauty of a game. I love Scotland so I figured I'd enjoy it but I wasn't sure exactly what to expect except at least partly a rhythm game. Had lots more exploring & survival elements than I was thinking it would, but I greatly enjoyed them. Feels nearly open-world, with a great balance between time pressure & side quests that actually makes you choose, which is rare and refreshing.
The exploration and bits of backtracking feel very much like real hiking outdoors. And of course, the songs are lovely. Great game.

saw that ending coming a mile away. ask Aura how many times i said either "Hamish is my real dad" or "Hamish fucked a seal". it was booooth 😆🏴
anyway this game is incredible. it's probably even more incredible if you have literally any ability to hold relative positions of landmarks in your head. me, i was lost most of the time and still have only a vague idea which peaks are where and how they interconnect.
tl;dr: beautiful Metroidvania where your only tools are a half-feral Scots teen and some junk you find on the ground

Today as on Christmas Day the last few years I'm very grateful to the summer student (you know who you are) who suggested we get a #Nintendo switch for the family.
Literally weeks and weeks of family game playing resulted and lots of individual fun for the kids. Fascinating to see them caught up in problem solving games.
This year's haul includes #HogwartsLegacy + #AHighlandSong. Can't wait to play the latter especially, but no, really we bought it for the kids.. 🤭.

This 2.5D side-scrolling adventure brings the Highlands to life with a blend of hand-drawn animation, impressionistic painted scenery, and dynamic lighting/weather effects.
