  1. Never been a fan of raw editors, they are usually too complicated, slow and have a messy UI/UX.

I'm not a photo nerd, I just want to adjust some sliders until it looks "good" and export a TIFF.

After "using" Darktable on Friday I decided to repurpose code from a different project I'm working on.

I now have a fast, simple and clean tool that works on my crappy laptop.

The tech stack is Qt/QML, OIIO, OCIO.

Thanks to Petrikas (Saulala) for the inspiration. And of course Troy for #AgX

  2. For those exploring the AgX module in darktable, here is a link to the online manual, explaining it in great detail.

  3. I really like darktable 5.4. Wayland support works very nicely. Small improvements like higher contrast module toggles to know what's turned on or off, is helpful.

    Great work devs!

I think (for now) I'll continue to use Sigmoid and Filmic RGB tone mappers.

AgX shows real promise, and I'll certainly give it another try with the next update. Just can't get any satisfaction with the skies.

  5. First ever trip that I entirely organised and edited in @darktable from SD card import thru culling, geotagging, tagging, #RAW development to 8K / 4K export into my libraries.

It still feels slower and nerdier than #Lightroom, and I have to read & watch a LOT of docs, FAQs and tutorials. But I also enjoy some extreme fine-tuning, file name variables and stuff. Now with #AgX and an adapted workflow, I’m close to being entirely happy with it. Looking forward to the road ahead. #Iceland #darktable

  6. As the only times I've been able to get out recently the weather has been atrocious, here's a Rock Pipit from a couple of weeks ago.

Note: Using #agx in darktable dev version, haven't quite got my head around it yet but I think I'm going to like it.
